Zach Nash’s Game-Winner Sinks Central Catholic, Keeps NA Unbeaten
In the penultimate game of the regular season, the North Allegheny boys’ soccer team earned a 1-0 shutout at Central Catholic on Tuesday night to remain undefeated. It was the fifth clean sheet of the season for the Tigers.
Following a scoreless first half, the lone goal of the night came in the 42nd minute when junior Zach Nash drove a free kick past Central Catholic goalie Andrew Wallander. The goal was Nash’s team-leading 11th of the season.
Senior goalie Dante Accamando made four saves, including a tremendous stop from 6-yards out in the final minute of play to preserve the shutout.
North Allegheny improves to 13-0-3 on the season and 10-0-3 in Section 1-4A, while Central Catholic dips to 5-10 overall and 4-9 in the section. The victory keeps the Tigers on a collision course with Seneca Valley with a section title on the line on Thursday night at NexTier Stadium. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
