To listen to a replay of the match, click here!

Coach Dan Schall's Lady Tigers came up big in game five with a 15-7 win to give them a 3-2 victory over Mt. Lebanon at the Senior High gym on Tuesday night.  Strong play at the net by seniors Rachel Schillinger and Julienne Moots paced the non-section win.

In game one, the Tigers started quickly when senior setter Amanda Posteraro served a pair of aces as NA built a 4-0 lead.  After a Schillinger kill made it 7-3, Lebo rallied behind junior OH Juliana Traut to score five straight points and take an 8-7 advantage.  The teams traded points until a kill by Moots put NA on top, 11-10.  Senior DS Marie Trombulak came in to serve four straight points, including two aces.  Once again, Mt. Lebanon came back.  With Sara Waller serving, the Blue Devils picked up five straight points to go back on top, 17-14.  Schillinger and junior MH Ellen Howarth led a Tiger rally that tied the game at 18.   After sophomore OH Michele Osterrieder picked up a kill and Lebo committed an error, NA was back ahead, 21-20.  The Blue Devils, however, scored the final five points behind the serving of Juliana Traut as Mt. Lebanon won game one, 25-21.

The Lady Tigers regrouped to win game two.  After falling behind 3-0, NA rallied to go ahead 7-5.  Schillinger and Moots combined for a block, Osterrieder another kill and senior setter Cara Davies an ace during the run.  NA extended the margin to 11-6 with sophomore setter Allyson Hodnik picking up a block to go with several Lebo errors.  Schillinger's kill made it 17-12 before the Blue Devils made another run.  Once again, Waller served five straight points before Schillinger's tip put NA back ahead, 18-17.  A kill by Schillinger down the middle, an Osterrieder blast and an ace served up by Schillinger extended the NA margin to 24-19.  Lebo closed to within two before Moots' kill ended things with NA winning game two, 25-22.

After an early 3-3 tie in game three, the Lady Tigers went on a run.  Moots picked up three straight points on two blocks and a dink to push NA ahead 7-3.  After Juliana Traut brought Lebo back into a 7-7 tie, Osterrieder's kill and an ace by Schillinger gave the Tigers a 10-7 advantage.   Once again, Lebo came back.  With Alicia Revitsky and Rosemary Calland leading the way, the Blue Devils jumped out to a 15-13 lead.  Posteraro came off the bench to serve four straight points with Schillinger scoring on a dink and Hodnik dropping in a left hand tap.  Lebo again came back to tie the game at 19 before NA took control.  Down the stretch NA outscored Lebo, 6-1, to win the third game, 25-20.  Schillinger's ace finished off the Blue Devils as the Tigers took a 2-1 advantage into game four.

After Waller served two aces to start game four, the Tigers came back behind Schillinger, Osterrieder, and Moots, along with a pair of aces served by Davies, to build an 8-3 advantage.  Lebo continued to come back with the Traut sisters, Juliana and Kathryn, combining for four points as Lebo went on top 10-8.  With the teams tied at 13, senior OH Katie Elmore blocked for a point and followed with a kill to give NA a 15-13 lead.  A kill by Schillinger and a block by Howarth pushed the lead to 18-14.  Kills by Osterrieder and Moots, along with another left hand tip by Hodnik, gave the Tigers a 24-20 lead with match point at hand.  Lebo would not give up, however,  and scored the final six points to win game four, 26-24.

Early in game five, the teams exchanged points.  With the game tied at 4, a kill by Moots pushed NA ahead for good.  With NA ahead 7-6, the Tigers went on an 8-1 run to win the game and the match.  After Elmore picked up a point on a kill, Posteraro served six straight points including two aces.  After a violation brought Lebo back to 14-7, the match ended when Posteraro's tip hit the net, rolled over and was touched by a Lebo player for the game and match winner.  The Lady Tigers won a hard-earned 3-2 victory.

Schillinger led the statistical parade with 17 kills and 17 passes to target.  For her efforts, the North Allegheny Sports Network selected Rachel Schillinger as the Player of the Match.  Osterrieder pitched in with 13 kills while Moots added eight.  Posteraro picked up 26 assists that led to kills while Hodnik was good on 18 passes for kills.  At the net, Moots blocked three and assisted on four while Howard had two blocks and five assisted blocks.  Senior Kelly Scherer had 17 passes to target, Davies picked up 14, and Trombulak 12.  Posteraro served up five aces, Schillinger four, and Davies three as NA put together a good team effort in the victory.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action tonight when they host the Hampton Talbots in a non-section contest.  Match time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
