Junior Dylan Rohar scored a pair of goals and added two assists and Tim Murphy tallied two goals and an assist to lead the Tigers to a 7-4 victory over the Seneca Valley Blue squad on Sunday afternoon at the RMU-Island Sports Center in a PIRHL Varsity 1 contest.  Danny Leibhart, Tony Lomupo, and Brian Carothers also scored for the winning Tigers.

After Seneca Valley took a 1-0 lead after one period, Murphy tied the score at 1-1 early in the second period on an assist from Burdwood.  Leibhart put the Tigers ahead, 2-1, with Rohar recording the assist, and Rohar score an unassisted goal to give NA a 3-1 lead.  Seneca was able to score before the end of the period, but the Tigers took a 3-2 advantage into the final stanza.

TIGERS SPLIT PAIR ON SATURDAY

The Tigers dropped a 4-0 decision to Seneca Valley Black but came back to down Hempfield, 10-8, at Bladerunners in Harmarville on Saturday afternoon.  In the first game, Seneca Valley goalie Tyler Freer held the Tigers off the board in handing NA their third consecutive loss.  Without leading scorer Dylan Rohar, the Tigers struggled to find the back of the net.  NA was outshot, 32-16, going 0 for 3 on the power play.  Goalie Brian Schick kept the Tigers in the game turning away 28 of 32 shots.

In the second game, the Tigers rebounded to defeat the Spartans, 10-8,  and end the losing streak.  The Tigers were playing with a short bench with only six skaters present and several of those players feeling under the weather.  NA found some offense in large part due to the play of Danny Leibhart.  In only his third game back after missing the beginning of the season with wrist surgery, Danny scored 6 goals.  All five remaining skaters (Tony Lomupo, Niko Kovacevic, Brian Carothers, Tim Murphy and Cody Burdwood) contributed to the offense with each recording at least one assist.  Carothers and Murphy also had two goals each.

The game went back and forth early.  NA led, 3-2, after the first period, and the game was tied at 6-6 after period two.  The game stayed tight until NA opened a 10-7 lead with under two minutes to play.  Hempfield scored a meaningless goal with 14 seconds left as the Tigers took a 10-8 victory.  In spite of giving up eight goals, the NA defense played well against one of the top offensive teams in the league.  Goal Brian Schick made some key stops, including a couple of breakaways.

The win stopped a three-game losing streak after the Tigers started the season at 5-0.  NA will take a 6-3 record into Sunday's 3:45 pm game against Seneca Valley Blue at the RMU-Island Sports Center.
