Junior attack Ryan Worsena and senior defense Lee Carrozza were selected to the Division 1, Section 2 First Team. CONGRATULATIONS, TIGERS!!!!! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * FRANKLIN REGIONAL UPSETS TIGERS, 9-7, TO END NA SEASON To listen to a replay of the game, click here! The Franklin Regional Panthers scored four unanswered goals in the first quarter and held off a late Tiger rally to record a 9-7 victory in the WPIAL Division I quarterfinals at Franklin on Wednesday night. Three NA players --- junior attacks Dan Wiese, Michael Eck and Ryan Worsena --- scored two goals each to pace the Tigers. The Panthers took control of the game early. Jordan Riley scored just 44 seconds into the game on a bounce shot from close range. NA was forced to kill of a two men down penalty situation to keep it a one goal game. With 5:54 left, John Schiurba broke down the middle and put another bounce shot into the net to make it a 2-0 game. Riley followed with his second goal of the game after cutting across the middle to increase the margin to 3-0. The Tigers took their fourth penalty of the quarter and the Panthers picked up a man up goal from Ben Stephens on a pass from Riley. After one quarter of play, the Panthers held a commanding 4-0 lead. Early in the second quarter, the Tigers finally broke through to score with Wiese set up in front of the goal off a pass from behind the net from Worsena. FR led, 4-1, at the 2:11 mark of the stanza. Once again, penalties got NA in trouble as the Panthers scored another man up goal with Brandon (Beanie) Osekowski finishing off a pass from Riley. The Tigers cut the margin to 5-2 on a good defensive play by senior Bill Kelleher who intercepted a clear and sent it into the net. The Panthers were able to restore the four-goal lead after yet another Tiger penalty that resulted in a man-up goal by Stephens with Osekowski picking up the assist with 1:02 remaining in the half. There was no further scoring as the Panthers took a 6-2 advantage to the intermission. The Tigers showed signs of getting back in the game when Eck fired in a long shot from 12 yards out at the 2:21 mark of the third quarter. The Panthers answered, however, with Chris Ward scoring from the left side of the net off a pass from Riley to make it a 7-3 game. Once again, the Tigers came back with Eck picking up his second of the game off a Worsena feed to cut the lead to 7-4 with 6:37 remaining. After the goal, the Tigers again drew a penalty with the Panthers scoring their fourth man-up goal of the game. Mike Owens pushed the lead back to 8-4 with Osekowski earning the assist. With 3:45 remaining, the Tigers finally added a man-up goal of their own with Worsena connecting off a pass from Eck to cut the margin to 8-5. Neither team scored again in the period as Franklin Regional took a three-goal lead into the final period. Midway through the fourth
quarter, Patrick Riesmeyer extended the FR lead to 9-5 with Riley
picking up his fifth assist of the game. The Tigers rallied late
with Wiese scoring after a long pass to cut the lead to 9-6 with 3:29
remaining. The Tigers aggressive defense showed up in the statistics as they forced 45 Panther errors while committing only 17. NA also led in ground balls, 45-33. On the other side of the stats, the Panthers outshot the Tigers, 36-28, in the game. A key stat showed NA killing only five of nine man down situations. The Tigers won 10 face offs to 7 for FR with 2 ties. For his efforts, the North Allegheny Sports Network named Michael Eck as the NA Player of the game. The loss ended the NA season as they finished with a final record of 12-7 on the season. Franklin Regional advanced to the semifinals next Wednesday. NA had defeated FR, 14-3, at Franklin earlier in the season. GAME SUMMARY

2010 WPIAL DIVISION I CHAMPIONSHIPS
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS PULL AWAY FROM RAMS FOR 13-7 VICTORY The Tigers broke open a close game in the fourth quarter as they downed Pine-Richland, 13-7, in the regular season finale at P-R on Wednesday night. NA led by a 9-7 score before tallying four unanswered fourth quarter goals to secure the win. Junior Michael Eck scored six goals and added two assists to pace the Tigers with junior Dan Wiese adding four goals and junior Ryan Worsena a pair of goals and four assists for the winning Tigers. NA dominated the statistics outshooting the Rams by a 52-29 count and collecting 49 ground balls to just 20 for P-R. The Tiger defense forced 21 errors while committing 17 miscues. NA won 18 faceoffs to 4 for the Rams with one tie. The Tigers scored on 2 of 6 man-up opportunities while stopping the Rams on all three man-down situations. With the win, the Tigers finished the section season with a 4-2 section record and a 12-6 overall mark. NA won their final six games to finish in third place in the section standings. The Tigers have qualified for the WPIAL playoffs that will begin next week. Check back to find out playoff information when it is released. GAME SUMMARY

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS HUNT DOWN EXPLORERS, 17-12 After falling behind, 3-0, after one quarter and 8-5 at halftime, the Tigers rallied behind junior attack Ryan Worsena to capture a 17-12 come from behind victory at Hudson (OH) on Saturday afternoon. Worsena scored nine goals and added four assists to pace a furious NA comeback that put them ahead, 12-9, after outscoring the Explorers, 7-1, in the third quarter. Junior Michael Eck added three goals and four assists while junior Dan Wiese tallied four goals for the winning Tigers. Statistically, the Tigers outshot the Explorers, 35-34, although Hudson edged NA, 32-30,in ground balls. A key stat showed the Tigers forcing 30errors to just 11 for the Ohio team. In face offs, the Tigers won 19 while losing nine and tying four. NA killed off 5 of 6 man down Hudson advantages. The win was the fifth straight for NA and improved their overall record to 11-6 on the season. The Tigers will complete section and regular season play on Wednesday night when they travel to Pine-Richland to meet the Rams in a 7:30 pm contest. GAME SUMMARY

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS CRUISE OVER BETHEL PARK, 13-3 The Tigers traveled to Bethel Park on Friday night and came home with an easy 13-3 victory. Leading the way for NA was junior Dan Wiese with six goals. Junior Michael Eck added five goals and an assist while junior Ryan Worsena recorded a goal and five assists for the winning Tigers. The Tigers had an edge over the Blackhawks in the game statistics. NA outshot BP, 36-33, while collecting 46 ground balls to 36 for Bethel. Forced errors favored the Tigers by a 32-16 maring. NA won 9 faces while losing ten and tying one. NA was 0 for 1 in man up advantages while the Tiger defense did not allow a goal in five man down situations. NA built a 7-0 lead after one quarter of play to set the stage for the rest of the evening. After NA made it 8-0 early in the second, the Blackhawks finally got on the board. The Tigers continued to roll, however, building an 11-1 lead at the intermission. The win gave the Tigers an overall record of 10-6 on the season. Next up for NA is a trip to Hudson, Ohio, to take on the Explorers in a non-section contest. GAME SUMMARY

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS CRUSH FOX CHAPEL, 15-1, ON SENIOR NIGHT The Tigers dominated Fox Chapel, 15-1, on Senior Night at Newman Stadium. Leading the way for the Tigers was junior attack Michael Eck with give goals and two assists. Junior Ryan Worsena added three goals and an assist while junior Dan Wiese tallied a pair of goals and recorded four assists for the winning Tigers. Sophomore Jared Yon also scored twice for the winning Tigers. NA opened a 5-0 lead after one quarter and extended the margin to 12-1 at the intermission. In the third quarter, the Tigers added another pair of goals to make it a 13-1 lead. The Tigers added two goals in the final period with NA finishing off the 15-1 victory. The Tigers had a big edge in the game stats. NA outshot FC, 35-17, and picked up 32 ground balls to 10 for the Foxes. The NA defense forced 33 errors while FC caused 13 Tiger miscues. Fox Chapel won 13 of 19 faceoffs. The Tigers were able to score on 3 of 6 man-up situations while killing off 6 of 7 by the Foxes. With the win, the NA overall record improved to 9-6. The Tigers are scheduled to Bethel Park on Friday night to meet the Blackhawks in a 7:30 pm non-section contest. GAME SUMMARY

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * FRANKLIN REGIONAL FALLS TO TIGERS, 14-3 The Tigers rolled over Franklin Regional, 14-3, in Murrysville on Monday night. Leading the way were junior attack Ryan Worsena with three goals and three assists while senior Dane Bralich added four assists for the winning Tigers. Four additional Tigers scored two goals each as NA won their second consecutive game. Once again, the Tigers had a big statistical edge in the game. NA outshot the Panthers, 42-18 while forcing 47 errors to 23 by FR. The teams were even in ground balls with 41 each. Face offs were tied with each team winning nine with one tie. The Tigers converted one of four man-up opportunities while the Panthers were one of five. With the win, the Tigers improved their overall record to 8-6 on the season. The Tigers will host Fox Chapel tomorrow night with a new start time of 8:00 pm with no JV game because of the WPIAL semifinal track playoffs. GAME SUMMARY

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS STOP SHALER, 16-6 The Tigers cruised over Shaler, 16-6, on Thursday night at Newman Stadium as NA broke a two-game losing streak. Senior Michael Eck led NA with four goals and two assists while junior Ryan Worsena added a pair of goals and four assists. Junior Dan Wiese and senior Casey Sisko scored two goals each for the winning Tigers. With the win, NA improved their overall record to 7-6 on the season. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS FALL IN OVERTIME TO SENECA VALLEY, 10-9 The Tigers battled hard all night long against unbeaten section rival Seneca Valley, but the Raiders were able to score with 3:01 remaining in overtime to take a 10-9 victory at NexTel Stadium on Wednesday night. Senior John Maus led NA with three goals while juniors Mike Eck and Dan Wiese added two goals each. Seneca got off to a quick start with a goal just 16 seconds into the game. The Raiders added another goal with 6:48 remaining before Maus scored his first just 26 seconds later to cut the lead to 2-1. With 2:31 remaining, Eck tied the game at 2-2. The Raiders were able to take the lead with 1:02 remaining to make it a 3-2 game after one quarter. Neither team scored in the second quarter until the Raiders were able to beat the clock with just two seconds remaining to take a 4-2 advantage to the intermission. The Tigers came out strong in the third quarter to take their first lead of the game. Wiese cut the lead to one on an assist from senior Dane Bralich at the 2:33 mark of the period. Two minutes later, Bralich scored to tie the game at 4-4. Eck scored his second of the game with 6:58 remaining in the stanza to give NA a 5-4 lead that they took into the final quarter. Early in the fourth quarter, the Raiders tied the game just 16 seconds into the period. Senior Bill Kelleher put NA back on top with 7:52 remaining. Just 21 seconds later, the Raiders answered to make it a 6-6 contest. Maus came back quickly with his second of the night to give the Tigers a 7-6 lead with 7:07 remaining in regulation. The Raiders had the answer, however, as they struck for three straight tallies to take a 9-7 lead with just 1:54 on the clock. With NA a man up, Maus completed his hat trick with 1:27 left to cut the margin to 9-8. Wiese sent the game into overtime with his second goal with just 53 seconds remaining. In the overtime period, the Raiders got the game winner with 3:01 left in the extra period. The Tigers played Seneca even for most of the game. Shots favored the Raiders by just two at 39-37 while NA gathered 37 ground balls to 25 for SV. The Tiger defense forced 33 Raider miscues while Seneca was able to cause just 15 NA errors. The Tigers won the face off battle, 14-7-2. In man up situations, the Tigers were 2 of 4 while Seneca was 0 for 2. The loss dropped the NA section record to 2-2, the overall mark to 6-6 on the season. Seneca Valley remained unbeaten in section play with a 5-0 record and a 10-0 mark overall. The Tigers will host Shaler tonight at Newman Stadium in a non-section contest with game time set for 7:30 pm. GAME SUMMARY

Manheim Township scored a pair of goals in the fourth quarter to break a 5-5 tie and send the Blue Streaks to a 7-5 victory over NA at Newman Stadium on Saturday night. Manheim entered the game with a 10-1 record and a #1 ranking in central Pennsylvania. Junior attack Michael Eck scored three goals to pace NA while senior goalie Dan Williamson made 18 saves to keep NA close. The Blue Streaks scored three times in the first quarter to take a 3-0 lead after one. Eck scored early in the second period at the 3:37 mark to cut the lead to 3-1. after Quint Miller tallied his second goal of the game for Manheim, junior attack Mike Wiese found the net to cut the advantage to two. Eck was able to get his second of the game with 27 seconds remaining in the quarter as the Blue Streak lead was cut to 4-3 at the intermission. The Tigers continued to battle in the third quarter and tied the game. After Alex Bradbury increased the Manheim lead to 5-3, Eck completed his hat trick at the 4:03 mark to cut the lead to one. Sophomore Jared Yon got the equalizer at the 7:35 mark to make it a 5-5 game. The Tigers would not score again as the Blue Streaks turned up the defensive pressure. Early in the fourth quarter, Kevin Estabrook put Manheim back on top at the 3:19 mark of the period. Quint Miller's third goal of the game gave the Blue Streaks an insurance goal as they went on to the 7-5 victory. For his efforts in the NA net, the North Allegheny Sports Network named senior goalie Dan Williamson as the Player of the Game. The statistics favor Manheim Township as they outshot NA, 39-17 and were successful on 23 of 25 clears. The Tigers collected 35 ground balls to 30 for the Blue Streaks and forced 28 errors to 20 for MT. Face offs were even at eight each. The loss stopped a three-game NA winning streak and dropped their overall record to 6-5 on the season. The Tigers will host Shaler tomorrow night in a non-section contest at Newman Stadium. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS DEMOLISH PETERS TOWNSHIP, 15-2 The Tigers won their third straight on Friday night with a 15-2 non-section victory at Peters Township. Junior attack Michael Eck led the way with five goals and three assists while junior attack Ryan Worsena added four goals and a pair of assists. The Tigers took control of the game early as Eck scored the first three goals of the game in the first 2:56 of play. With NA ahead, 3-0, Worsena scored twice on an Eck assists to push the margin to 5-0. Junior attack Dan Wiese made it a 6-0 game off an Eck assist. With five seconds left in the period, Worsena completed his hat trick to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead after one quarter. The second quarter was more of the same. Just 1:30 into the period, Eck scored on an assist from Worsena on a man up advantage to push the margin to 8-0. Eck scored his fifth of the game with 8:11 remaining in the half to extend the margin to 9-0. Goals by Eck, senior Dane Bralich, Worsena, and senior David Lancia gave the Tigers a commanding 12-0 lead at the intermission. Scoring slowed in the second half with Wiese tallying the only goal of the third quarter as NA took a 13-0 lead into the final period. Peters finally got on the board at the 2:26 mark of the fourth quarter, but senior Casey Sisko answered off an assist from senior Matt Ogle. Another Indian goal was answered by senior Bill Kelleher with 3:45 remaining as the Tigers went on to the easy 15-2 victory. With the win, the Tiger overall record improved to 6-4 on the season. NA will host Manheim Township tonight at Newman Stadium in another non-section contest. The Tigers jumped off to a 4-0 lead after one quarter and never looked back as the defeated Central Catholic, 14-7, in a section contest at Newman Stadium on Wednesday night. Junior attack Ryan Worsena scored five goals and added three assists to pace NA with junior attack Michael Eck adding four goals and junior attack Dan Wiese a pair for the winning Tigers. Senior David Lancia got the Tigers off and running with a goal from a tough angle on the left side just 1:47 into the game. Aftr the Tigers failed to score on two man-up advantages, Worsena got loose off a spin move and sent a bouncing shot past CC goalie Michael George to make it a 2-0 game. With 636 left, Worsena came out from behind the Viking goal and sent in a sidearm shot to increase the margin to 3-0. After a Central time out, Worsena picked off a Central clear and came in all alone to beat George again for his third of the game with 1:02 remaining in the quarter. The Tigers took a 4-0 lead into the second quarter. Central scored first in the second period with Luke Smith racing in from the right side and scoring from five yards out just 1:02 into the quarter. The Tigers answered when Wiese found Eck alone in front of the goal with 8:47 remaining as NA took a 5-1 lead. Once again after a Central time out, the Tigers scored a man up goal with Eck returning the favor to Wiese with 6:32 left in the half. Eck scored his second of the game from Worsena at the 2:47 mark to give the Tigers a commanding 7-1 lead at the intermission. Early in the third quarter, Eck scored a pair of goals to extend the margin to 9-1. Just 53 seconds into the half, Eck bounced a shot in from the left side. Senior John Maus was able to find Eck open in front of the net for his fourth of the game just 12 seconds later as NA senior Alex Mesoras won yet another face off. Mesoras won 10 of the first 11 face offs to help NA control play. The Vikings rallied briefly in the middle of the period scoring three straight goals. Smith got his second, Patrick Burke scored a man-up goal from long range, and Corey Wager added another tally to cut the NA lead to 9-4 with 5:03 still remaining in the quarter. The Tigers answered with a ball control offense that was able to keep control for over four minutes before Worsena came out from behind the CC net to score his fourth of the game. NA took a 10-4 lead into the final period of play. Early in the fourth quarter, the Vikings' Smith cut across the middle to add his third of the game and cut the margin to 10-5 just 1:57 into the stanza. Wiese answered from the right side on a feed from sophomore Jared Yon to push the lead back to six at 11-5 with 7:33 left. Maus made it 12-5 with his on yet another Worsena assist just over a minute later. Worsena was able to catch up with a loose ball down the middle and deposit it into the net for his fifth of the game with 5:14 left. The remainder of the game was played primarily between the reserves from both teams. Dylan Bedortha scored for Central with 3:45 left to cut the margin to 13-6. Junior Stephen Smith pushed the lead to 14-6 after a long run by junior Clay Bunting set up the scoring chance. Wagner completed the scoring with a final tally with just 2:07 left as NA went on to the impressive 14-7 victory. The Tigers dominated the statistics outshooting the Vikings, 52-22. NA collected 40 ground balls to 14 for CC while forcing 19 errors to just 14 Tiger miscues. On face offs, the Tigers won 15 of 24. NA scored on 1 of 7 man up advantages while killing off 3 of 4. Once again, it was a good team victory for the Tigers with many contributors. Good work on defense by Bunting and senior Lee Carrozza and senior Casey Sisko along with great work on faceoffs by Mesoras helped the cause. In addition, sophomore goalie Alex Jewell was tough when he had to be in his first varsity start. For his efforts on the offensive end, the North Allegheny Sports Network named Michael Eck as the Player of the Game. With the win, NA improved to 2-1 in section play, 5-4 overall on the season. The Tigers will travel to Peters Township tomorrow night to meet the Indians in a 7:30 pm non-section contest. GAME SUMMARY
INDIVIDUAL SCORING (unofficial)
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * WPIAL BOYS' LACROSSE - 2010 The Tigers will compete again this year in the WPIAL along with 30 other teams. The top four teams in each section will enter the WPIAL tournament. The WPIAL boys’ lacrosse section play will begin on March 31, 2010, and must be completed according to the schedule. All teams, both playoff qualifiers and non-qualifiers, may play games through Sunday, May 23, 2010 provided that they do not exceed the maximum limit of eighteen established by the PIAA. All playoff entries will be determined by section record only and will be determined by the best section won/lost record. Teams that tie for first place will not have the tie broken and will be declared section champions, will receive section winner's plaques, and will be entered into the WPIAL tournament. The top two teams from each section will play at home in the first round of the playoffs. In the event of a multiple team (two or more teams) tie for a playoff position, head-to-head competition will be the first determinant. If head-to-head does not break the tie, the following tie-breaking system will be used. If three or more teams are tied for third place and the tie breaking system identifies one team as the third place team, the remaining teams will then be tied for fourth place and the process begins over with head-to-head competition being the first determinant for establishing the fourth place team. If a tie cannot be broken all tied teams will enter the playoffs. TIE-BREAKING SYSTEM a. Section
records of the tied teams will be compiled. Teams that qualify for the tournament should be aware tht they may be placed in a preliminary round and may be assigned to play beginning on Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Section winners and second place finishers will be awarded home games in the first round with the third and fourth place teams playing away. In the event of a tie for first and/or second place, the WPIAL will determine the home site assignment based on availability and suitability. The WPIAL semi-finals and finals will be contested at a neutral site. Teams should be aware that PIAA tournament entry is reserved for Division I teams.
