NORTH ALLEGHENY VARSITY MATCH SUMMARIES TIGERS QUALIFY FOR STATE PLAYOFFS The North Allegheny Bowling Teams left North Versailles this past weekend with their ticket punched for the State Playoffs. The NA Girls finished sixth in the WPIBL Championships this weekend. Ryanne Tyler led the way with a 279 game and also qualified for the singles state tournament. Cory Mardoff led the NA Boys with a 265 game, helping the team to a fifth place finish. The state playoffs will be held in Reading, PA on March 18 and 19. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS TAKE 5TH
PLACE The Lady Tigers finished in 5th place in the WPIBL Team Championships at Family Bowlaway in Butler on Thursday afternoon. Hempfield earned the championship with Penn-Trafford and Gateway finishing in second and third place respectively. North Allegheny was paced by Bethany Schopper who knocked down 545 pins. 15TH PLACE The Tigers finished in 15th place in the WPIBL Team Championships at White Oak Bowl on Wednesday afternoon. Hempfield won the title followed by Chartiers Valley and Baldwin. The Lady Tiger bowlers will compete the WPIBL Girls Team Championships today at 3:30 pm. WPIBL BOYS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS TEAM SCORES
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * NA GIRLS GO PERFECT IN THE WEST (2/17/11) For the first time ever, the North Allegheny Girls’ Bowling team has gone undefeated in the West Section. The NA Girls’ punctuated a perfect 10-0 regular season by beating Moon 4-3. In a battle to the end, the NA Boys fell to Moon 5-2 and end the season with a record of 8-2. Both Tigers bowling teams have earned the right to play in the WPIBL Championships next week and Regionals next weekend. The WPIBL Boys championships will be held on Wednesday, February 23 at White Oak Bowl and the Girls championships will be held on Thursday, February 24 at Family Bowlaway in Butler. Start times for both are set for 3:30 pm. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * NA GIRLS WIN WEST CHAMPIONSHIP (2/10/11) The North Allegheny Girls Bowling Team clinched the West Championship on Wednesday afternoon with a 7-0 win over Northgate. The NA Boys also blanked Northgate 7-0 and can win the West Championship with a victory over Moon in their regular season finale next week. The victories allow both NA teams to move on to the Championship Round on February 23 and 24. The Tigers are also qualified for the Regional Tournament to be held in North Versailles on February 26 and 27. The NA Girls are 9-0 on the season and the NA Boys are 8-1. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * NA SLITS WITH MOON (2/4/11) The North Allegheny Bowling Team has had a busy week with two match-ups this week, posting a sweep of OLSH on Wednesday and earning a split against Moon on Thursday afternoon. Against OLSH, the Tigers boys and girls picked up 7-0 victories. In their meeting with Moon, the North Allegheny girls were victorious with a 5-2 decision. However, the NA boys lost their first meet of the season, and in two years, falling 5-2. Both matches came down to the last few frames before a winner was decided. The NA boys are now 7-1 on the season and will face Moon again in two weeks in a battle for first place. The Tigers girls’ team remains undefeated at 8-0. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS TAKE DOWN RIVAL NORTH HILLS (1/27/11) North Allegheny defeated rival North Hills on Wednesday afternoon to stay perfect on the season. The NA Boys beat North Hills 5-2 while the NA Girls blanked the Indians 7-0. Both NA teams up their record to 6-0. The North Hills Boys fall to 3-2 while the Girls drop to 0-6. The Tigers will face OLSH on Wednesday, February 2 at Perry Park Lanes. North Allegheny defeated OLSH earlier in the year with the boys winning 6-1 and the girls claiming a 7-0 win. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS SHUT OUT QUAKER VALLEY (1/20/11) After winter weather postponed North Allegheny’s match-up with Moon last week, the Tigers got right back to their winning ways on Wednesday with victories over Quaker Valley. The NA Boys team blanked Quaker Valley, 7-0, and the NA Girls won by the same score. Both NA squads improve to 5-0 on the season. Both of Quaker Valley’s teams fall to 1-4 on the year. The Tigers face rival North Hills next Wednesday, January 26 at Pines Plaza at 3:30 pm. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS ROLL PAST NORTHGATE (1/6/11) The NA Tigers took down Northgate on Wednesday afternoon to improve to 4-0 on the season. To stay undefeated, the North Allegheny Boys' blanked Northgate 7-0, and the North Allegheny Girls' topped Northgate 5-2. The Girls' win over Northgate was a big one as both entered this contest with unblemished records. The NA Girls now own sole possession of first place in the West Division standings. The Northgate Girls falls to 3-1. Thanks to a 7-0 loss by Moon on Wednesday to OLSH, the NA Boys are also alone in first place in the West Division. The Tigers will try to maintain their one game lead in the standings when they face Moon on Wednesday, January 12. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * NA TOPS OLSH FOR 3-0 START (12/23/10) North Allegheny continued their roll in week three by defeating OSLH on Wednesday afternoon. The NA Boys' earned a 6-1 win while the NA Girls' picked up another 7-0 victory. The victory gives NA a 3-0 record on the year. The Tigers will have the holiday break off before meeting up with Northgate at home on Wednesday, January 5. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * NA BOWLERS DOWN NORTH HILLS (12/16/10) Week two of the high school bowling season saw the NA Tigers came away with another winning effort. The NA Boys' defeated North Hills 5-2, while the NA Girls' blanked the Indians 7-0. The win improves the Tigers record to 2-0 on the season. North Allegheny will next face OLSH in a road meet at Paradise Island Bowl next Wednesday, December 22. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * VICTORIOUS START FOR NA BOWLERS (12/9/10) The North Allegheny Boys' and Girls' Bowling team began the winter sports season with a pair of victories on Wednesday afternoon. The NA Boys defeated Quaker Valley 5-2 while the NA Girls handed Quaker Valley a 7-0 defeat. The Tigers head to the lanes again next Wednesday, December 15 against North Hills. That will be a home match for the Tigers at the Perry Park Lanes. * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
