TIGERS HEAVY GROUND ATTACK FLATTENS RAIDERS, 49-28 Vinnie Congedo and Nick Passodelis each topped 100 yards rushing as North Allegheny dominated Seneca Valley, 49-28. Alex DeCiantis also netted 71 yards rushing, as the Tigers punished the Raiders at the line of scrimmage and on the scoreboard. All totaled, North Allegheny rushed for 349 yards on the night, compared to just 82 yards for Seneca Valley. Six of the Tigers’ seven touchdowns were scored on the ground, with Passodelis running for three, quarterback Mack Leftwich scoring twice on carries, and Congedo punctuating the victory with his lone touchdown coming in the fourth quarter. The game began ominously as North Allegheny allowed a long rushing touchdown on their opponent’s opening possession. On the second play from scrimmage, Seneca Valley's Forrest Barnes dashed through the left side of the line, galloping 57 yards to the goal line, giving the Raiders an early 7-0 lead. North Allegheny responded with a methodical 11 play, 66-yard drive, capped off by 13-yard touchdown sprint by Leftwich to knot the game at 7-7. Congedo handled the workload during the series, carrying four times for 20 yards. Additionally, the Tigers completed a key 3rd and 11 when Leftwich hit Brendan Coniker for 17 yards, keeping the drive alive at midfield. The Tigers defense forced Seneca Valley into three plays and out on their next possession. Following a punt, North Allegheny took over at the Seneca Valley 47. This time, it only took them two plays to find the end zone as Leftwich took to the air. Dropping back, he found Coniker on a deep route, with a step on the coverage. In the end zone, Coniker made a spectacular highlight reel catch, diving with full extension to secure the ball and the score for the Tigers. Jason Buchert’s extra point extended the lead to 14-7. North Allegheny would not relinquish the lead for the rest of the night. After another three and out by the Raiders, North Allegheny again took over near midfield. They moved the ball seemingly at will, gaining chunks of yardage on the ground as the line blew open running lanes. Congedo, Passodelis, and Isaiah Faulk all had touches on the drive. A sneak by Leftwich capped the drive, pushing the lead to 21-7 just after the start of the second quarter. With a two-touchdown lead, the North Allegheny defense began to dig in. The defensive line of Zach Lyon, Jeremy Gonzalez, Patrick Kugler, and Nate Nachazel began harassing quarterback Jordan Brown on passing plays, and the linebacking corps, led by Jarred Lux and Kevin Clemens offered Barnes little running room. Taking over just before halftime at their own 20, the Tigers moved the ball quickly on the ground, with their offensive line manhandling the Raiders defensive front. Just six plays later, Passodelis plunged four yards into the end zone. The drive was highlighted by the running of DiCiantis and a pair of Raider penalties, setting up the fullback for his first of three touchdowns on the night. With his big night, the North Allegheny Sports Network named Passodelis its Wright Automotive Player of the Game. Seneca Valley cut the lead to 28-14 at halftime, but North Allegheny answered with a pair of third quarter touchdowns, blowing the game open at 42-14. The Raiders attempted to make it interesting late, scoring touchdowns on back-to-back fourth quarter possessions, but Congedo’s touchdown with 3:16 remaining extinguished the pseudo-rally. The win over the Raiders was North Allegheny’s third over a section opponent this season, putting them atop the Northern Seven Conference. The Tigers are one of two remaining undefeated teams in Quad-A. They will put their 5-0 record on the line next week in a non-section game at Kiski Area. Kickoff against the Cavaliers next Friday is scheduled for 7:30. Be sure to catch all the action on the North Allegheny Sports Network. GAME SUMMARY
