TIGERS DOWN LATROBE by Inline Hockey Contributor The North Allegheny Varsity II inline hockey team was ready to get back to action after losing their last three games before the holiday break. Latrobe came on strong and scored the first two goals of the game. The Tigers stole the momentum after a killing a penalty late in the first when junior Nick Moss buried two goals in less than two minutes. Latrobe quickly scored again to end the first period 3-2, Latrobe. Sophomore Karl Renner scored in the opening seconds of the second period to tie the game 3-3. The Tigers defense, along with freshman call-up goalie Dominic "The Dominator" Manz, refused to allow Latrobe to score again. Senior Andrew Gordon recorded the go-ahead goal with 5:50 left in the second period. The third period was all NA with Renner scoring two more times and Moss adding his third goal to net hat tricks for both. Sophomore call-up Tyler Ware added a goal with 51 seconds left on the clock to bring the final to 8-3, Tigers. The Tigers are ready to take on first place McKeesport next Saturday at the RMU Island Sports Center at 8:30 pm. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS HAMMER PINE-RICHLAND 9-1 by Inline Hockey Contributor
Pine Richland looked to settle the score against NA after a 9 -1 loss in
October. The Rams started off strong by scoring the first goal of the
game. Senior Anthony Ferraro shook that off quickly and did not let
another one in all evening. Senior defensemen Dillon Egerter, Andrew
Gordon and Pat Kelly put pressure on the PR goalie while keeping
everyone away from our net. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * NA Tops Butler In Final Seconds, 5-4 by Inline Hockey Contributor The NA V2 Inline Hockey team came back from a three goal deficit to defeat the Butler Tornados at the Island Sports Center on Sunday. Butler came out strong in the first period scoring the first three goals of the game. Junior Chris Schwab started the NA scoring with an unassisted goal during the final minutes of the first period. The second period was all NA. Senior Dillon Egerter rifled a slap shot past the Butler goalie followed by sophomore Karl Renner scoring two more to end the 2nd period with NA up by one. Junior goaltender Mike Zombeck stopped one goal after another. The third period started out as all defense for both teams. Senior defensemen Andrew Gordon and Pat Kelly matched well along with junior Donny Oesterle and sophomore call-up Dan Brunner to contain the Butler offense leaving them scoreless for most of the third period. With a little over three minutes left in the game, Butler took advantage of a Tiger penalty and tied the game. It looked like the game would go into overtime until senior Pat Kelly slid a pass to Renner who sent a beautiful saucer pass to junior Nick Moss who swept the winning goal past the Butler goaltender with less than 60 seconds left in the game. The Tigers look forward to their next game against Pine Richland this coming Sunday. * * * * * * * * * * * * * NA SPLITS GAMES IN BUTLER by Inline Hockey Contributor The Varsity 2 team traveled to Butler for two games on Sunday.
