TIGERS FINISH REGULAR SEASON WITH 1-1 TIE AT PLUM, PLAYOFFS UP NEXT

by Boys Soccer Contributor

(10/17/12) The NA Boys Soccer Team traveled to Plum to play the last game of the regular season and came away with their sixth tie of the year, giving them an 8-4-1 in Section 2 games, and overall record of 10-4-3.

The first half had several opportunities with crosses to the center by Alex Correa and Chris Richards, but most of the first half was played in the mid-field. The second half came with a mix of Varsity and JV team players. Dylan Apessos dribbled the ball to the left wing and pulled the defenders in towards him leaving a clear pass to Duncan Riding who took the ball to the end line and fired the ball across the goal to Amitoj Singh Satjit who headed the ball in for NA’s only goal. Already leading 1-0, Riding and Satjit almost connected a second time on the same pass, but the Plum goalie made the save. Goalie Luke Nolan was tested on a corner kick that curled toward the goal, but made an excellent save to keep NA ahead.  Steve Binnig repeatedly shut down Plum’s approaches from the right side of goal, but with 7:24 left in the game, Plum broke through and put a low shot to the far post, tying up the contest. With only 1:50 left in the game, Alex Gill almost put the Tigers ahead with a header off of a corner kick, but going just wide.

North Allegheny’s first game in the WPIAL Playoffs is against the Kiski Area Cavaliers at the Pine Richland Stadium on Monday with a 6pm kickoff.   You can listen to all the action live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.

ZIOLKOWSKI'S LATE GOAL LIFTS NA TO 2-1 WIN
OVER NORWIN

by Boys Soccer Contributor

(10/16/12) The Tigers Boys Soccer Team added another victory Monday evening by beating non-conference foe Norwin, 2-1. Senior Ben Ziolkowski scored the game winning goal for the Tigers with one minute to play to lift NA to the victory.

In the early going, both teams had their chances to score during the first half but Joe Murphy denied any goals. Alex Correa scored the first goal with one minute left in the first half to put NA on top, 1-0.  Nate Gross assisted on the goal.

The Knights came out strong in the second half but Luke Nolan successfully stopped several attempts to score. Steve Binning had strong shots and served up some powerful corner kicks but the Knights stopped all the Tigers shots on goal.  With 10 minutes left in the second half Nathaniel Andreyko tied up the game at 1-1 with a hard shot into the NA net. The Tigers’ determination that has shined throughout the season was displayed again when Ziolkowski scored the winning goal with less than one minute remaining.

The Tigers are unbeaten in their last nine games and improved to 10-3-3 with the win.  North Allegheny will conclude their regular season schedule with a visit to Plum on Wednesday night before the WPIAL Playoffs next week.

TIGERS WRAP UP SECTION SCHEDULE BY TOPPING
NORTH HILLS, 2-1

by Boys Soccer Contributor

(10/11/12) The North Allegheny Boys Soccer Team finished their Section 2 season with a hard-fought, 2-1, victory at North Hills. The Tigers threatened to score throughout the first half, highlighted by several well-served crosses from Kevin White and a shot from Nate Gross that hit the crossbar.  The Indians created some chances of their own, with the best coming mid-way through the half, but goalie Joe Murphy came off his line for a one-on-one stop when a North Hills forward broke through the NA defense. The defense, manned by Joe Durante, Ben Stahl,  Suyash Fulay, and Jason Buchert, stiffened after that. Then with just 4:11 left in the half, Chris Richards headed in a cross from Alex Dorazio to give NA a 1-0 lead.

North Hills evened the score at 1-1 just three minutes into the second half, as Rich Ley got loose in the box to put home a pass from Noah Mailliard.  Murphy kept the game tied with a leaping save just a minute later.  Then the NA offense began to create more opportunities.  Sean Dickerson controlled the mid-field for much of the game and had a strong shot from long-distance that almost put the Tigers ahead. Then, with 22:28 left in the half, Chris Richards scored his second goal of the night, putting home another good cross from Kevin White and making the score 2-1. North Hills pushed hard for an equalizer, but the North Allegheny team played a strong team game and held their lead.

The win raised the Tiger’s section record to 8-4-1, the team’s best record in several years, and moved their overall record to 9-3-3.  The team plays again next Tuesday in a non-section home game against Norwin High School at 7:00pm.

TIGERS CLAW TO 1-1 TIE WITH RAIDERS

(10/9/12) In a defensive struggle, the North Allegheny Boys Soccer team fought to a 1-1 tie with Seneca Valley on Tuesday night.  It was a battle of a pair of top 10 teams and both defenses showed why they are considered amongst the best in Class AAA.

The Tigers and Raiders played to a scoreless tie after one half of play with Seneca Valley getting three shots on goal.  While NA did not tally a shot on net they did have two great scoring chances.  The first opportunity came on a steal by senior Chris Richards who raced up the right sideline and sent a crossing pass toward senior Ryan Fulton.  On a header attempt, the ball sailed just beyond him but senior Kevin White played the ball right back to Fulton for a shot that missed high.  With about 13 minutes remaining in the half, the Raiders defense nearly handed NA the lead on a misplay by defenseman Joe DiAugustino.  On a slow roller, DiAugustino pushed the ball toward the goalie box where he anticipated goalie Colton Smith to be standing.  However, Smith had vacated that spot to play the ball behind DiAgustino.  When DiAugustino’s kick rolled toward the SV goal, the Raiders faithful gasped as the ball slowly and narrowly rolled wide of the cage.

Coming out of halftime scoreless, the Raiders tallied the game’s first goal thanks to a free kick deep in the Tigers end.  With 35:41 on the clock, Brandon White took the free kick and directed a well-placed pass to forward Ryan Vilella who turned and shot the ball into the Tigers net for a 1-0 lead.  North Allegheny would find the equalizer ten minutes later on a goal that was set up on a corner kick.  Following the corner, Nate Gross delivered a pass in front of the SV net from a sharp right angle that found the toe of Richards who deflected the ball in for a goal and a 1-1 tie.

From that point on, the defensive struggle continued as SV goalie Colton Smith and NA net minder Joe Murphy made several terrific saves to keep the game tied.  A late second half attempt by Ryan Correa was denied on a top shelf save by Smith.  In overtime, Murphy time and time again stepped up for big time saves to keep the score even.  For his efforts, Murphy was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.  Thanks to the play of the defenses and goalkeepers, the game would end in a 1-1 tie following two overtime periods.

North Allegheny’s record runs to 8-3-3 overall and 7-3-1 in section play.  Seneca Valley is now 10-4-1 overall and 7-3-1 in Section 2.  Both teams have already clinched playoff spots, but the Tigers can still overtake the Raiders for the second spot in the section if they win at North Hills on Thursday night, and if also Seneca Valley falls at home against Butler.   Kickoff for NA’s visit to North Hills is slated for 7:30 pm.

TIGERS TIE BLACKHAWK ON SENIOR NIGHT

by Boys Soccer Contributor

(10/8/12) North Allegheny tied Blackhawk, 1-1, on Saturday night in a non-section game.  The Tigers kicked off Senior Night with the introduction of each Senior player and his parents, honoring their loyalty and contributions to the NA Boys Soccer program.

In honor of the event, an all-Senior starting lineup began the game against the Blackhawk Cougars and battled to a 0-0 tie for the first 20 minutes, as goalie Joe Murphy had several key saves, and the Tigers created several opportunities, capped off when Nate Gross hit the post on a strong shot from the right side.  Senior captains Ryan Fulton and Suyash Fulay joined their classmates on the field for the rest of the half, along with junior Sean Dickerson. With 5:58 remaining in the first half, Dickerson scored on an impressive 35-yard strike to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

However, just 4:25 into the second half, Blackhawk’s Drew Burger slipped past the North Allegheny defense for a breakaway goal, evening the score at 1-1. The two teams then traded possession and chances throughout the rest of the second half and two overtime periods, but neither team could score again.  The game ended in a 1-1 tie.

The Tigers are in action again on Tuesday with a rematch against Seneca Valley. Kickoff is at 7pm.

TIGERS CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT WITH WIN OVER HAMPTON

by Boys Soccer Contributor

(10/4/12) NA took on the Hampton Talbots on Thursday night, beating them 3-0 and clinching a berth in the WPIAL playoffs.  Hampton had an opportunity to get ahead in the first half after a header was going in goal, but Sean Dickerson pulled the shot from mid-air keeping NA in the game. With 10 minutes left in the half, Alex Correa crossed the ball to center and striker Chris Richards flicked a header over the goalie for what was NA’s winning goal. With just 13 seconds until half-time, Alex Dorazio got in front of a crowded goal and pushed the ball over the line putting NA up, 2-0.

In the second-half Hampton strikers came hard at NA, but Joe Durante and Suyash Fulay teamed up, making perfectly timed sliding tackles keeping limited shots on the NA goal, while Kevin White kept vigil by stopping attacks on the left side of the field. With seven minutes to go, Ryan Fulton put the game out of reach, dodging two defenders and placing a low strike to the far post, ending the match 3-0. With the win NA qualifies for playoffs which start on October 20.

TIGERS TOP TORNADO AGAIN IN OT, 1-0

(10/2/12) The North Allegheny Boys Soccer Team took a big step toward the post-season with a 1-0 overtime victory over the Butler Golden Tornado on Tuesday night.  A goal by senior Ryan Fulton with 3:48 to go in overtime lifted North Allegheny to the win and brought the Tigers a step closer toward a playoff berth.  If North Allegheny can win at Hampton on Thursday night, the Tigers will lock up a return trip to the playoffs.

In Tuesday night’s affair with Butler, the Tigers defense harassed and hounded the Tornado all night long limiting shots and potential scoring chances.  Joe Durante, Jason Buchert and Suyash Fulay, among others, provided stiff resistance to the Butler forwards.  In net, goalie Joe Murphy gobbled up anything that came in his direction as well.  In a game dominated by defense on both sides, Fulay was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game for his efforts in keeping the Tornado scoreless.

While most of the game was played between the thirties, North Allegheny mounted a consistent threat in the final five minutes of the first half by wearing down the Butler defense.  Fulton had three excellent scoring chances in the opening half but missed high of the net twice and was turned away a third time by Butler goalie Adam Voelker.  Senior Chris Richards had perhaps the best scoring chance in the second half but narrowly missed left of the Butler goal.

Overtime brought more defense from both teams until the Tigers finally got their chance to end the game with about four minutes remaining.  Off a throw-in deep in the Butler end, the quick-footed Fulton worked his way in front of the goal and uncorked a shot that gave NA the victory.  The game winning tally proved controversial however as the Tornado contested the goal with the officials to point that Butler’s coaching staff was given a red card.  Despite the Butler protest, the goal stood and the Tigers claimed an important, and exciting, 1-0 win.

North Allegheny improves to 7-3-1 overall and 6-3 in Section 2.  For Butler, the loss delivers a major blow to the Tornado’s playoff hopes, dropping them to 5-6-2 overall and 3-5-1 in the section.   The Tigers will visit Hampton on Thursday night with a chance to clinch a playoff spot.  Action gets underway at 7:30 pm.

NA EDGES SHALER WITH LATE GOAL, 2-1

(9/24/2012) Senior Ryan Fulton scored with 30 second remaining to lift the North Allegheny Tigers over the Shaler Titans, 2-1, on Monday night.  Fulton's goal broke a 1-1 tie and helped the Tigers earn a season sweep over the Titans this season.

Senior Alex Correa scored the game's first goal to give NA a 1-0 lead.  Correa's goal was set up on an assist from Ben Stahl.  Shaler tied the game late in the second half and it appeared the contest would be headed for overtime.  That set the stage for Fulton's goal with less than a minute remaining that gave NA a thrilling victory, 2-1.

The win improves the Tigers record to 6-3 overall and 5-3 in Section 2.  Shaler falls to 2-6-1 overall and 1-5-1 in section play.  North Allegheny returns to action on Saturday for a revenge game with Kiski Area, the team that knocked the Tigers out of the playoffs last season with a 2-1 OT win in the opening round of the WPIAL Playoffs.  Kickoff is slated for 7:00 pm.

NA TIES KISKI AREA, 1-1

by Boys Soccer Contributor

The North Allegheny Boys Soccer Team earned a 1-1 tie against Kiski Area on Saturday.  Andrew Earle and Peter Tobias, juniors went into the game after about 15 minutes to provide some relief from an ever pressing Kiski team.  They were fast and quick to the ball and the NA players had to reciprocate.  With 10:41 left in the first half, Kiski scored catching our goalie Joe Murphy out of the box.  A few seconds later, sophomore Steve Binning attempted a cross to senior Jason Buchert which was blocked.  With seven minutes left in the first half senior Chris Richards taking the ball down the sidelines, passed to the teammates applying pressure against Kiski.  This set up a chance for senior Ryan Fulton with a perfect pass from a teammate to score a goal.  The game was tied 1-1 at the half.

All fresh legs were sent in the second half.  Murphy saw relentless pressure and saved another goal with 18:06 left in the game.  Senior Nate Grossman attempted to pass to his teammates with Alex Gill and Duncan Riding to participate in any way they could.  With 8:08, Kiski hit the crossbar and Murphy made yet another save.  Junior Andy Mahler follows shortly with an attempted kick to pop the ball in at almost 25 yards out and narrowly missed.  The game went into two 10-minute sessions of overtime and with neither team scoring, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

NA FALLS TO SENECA VALLEY, 1-0

by Boys Soccer Contributor

(9/20/2012) Seneca Valley slipped by North Allegheny 1-0 in Boys Soccer on Thursday.  The usually-heated section affair was relatively tame throughout the rare afternoon game.

The Tigers had difficulty generating any offense thanks to smothering defense by the Raiders.  After a scoreless first half, Seneca Valley's Ryan Vilella scored the only goal of the contest with twenty eight minutes remaining.  At the game wound down, separate chances by Ryan Fulton, Ben Ziolkowski, and Steve Binning were all turned aside.

With the loss, the Tigers fall into fourth place in the standings with a record of 3-3 in section play and 4-3 overall.  The Raiders leap frog NA into third place in the Section 2 standings with a 3-2 record and 6-2 mark overall.  North Allegheny hopes to rebound on Saturday with a home game against North Hills.  Action gets underway at 7:00 pm at Newman Stadium.

TIGERS TOP HAMPTON, 1-0

by Boys Soccer Contributor

(9/18/2012) On one of falls first brisk nights, the North Allegheny Boys Soccer team edged the Hampton Talbots, 1-0 at Newman Stadium.  Ryan Fulton scored the game winner off a free kick in the second half to propel the Tigers to victory.

In the first half, Hampton had several corner kick opportunities but was unable to get anything past Tiger keeper Joe MurphyKevin White and Joe Durante did an excellent job on defense along with Suyash Fulay and Jason Buchert, while midfielders Sean Dickerson, Steve Benning and Alex Correa worked tirelessly in transition.

The second half started with Hampton pressuring the goal, but the Talbots were denied by the Tigers' solid defense.   The Tigers' luck changed when Ryan Fulton was taken down outside the box. Fulton drove an out swinger over the wall and near post to score the only goal of the evening.  Forwards Chris Richards, Alex Dorazio, Dylan Appessos and Nate Gross moved the ball through the midfield and transitioned play to the forwards, but the Hampton defense held firm.  With just seconds on the clock, Hampton had a fantastic opportunity to tie up the match but Joe Murphy saved the point blank drive from six yards away.

The result improved North Allegheny's record to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in Section 2.  The Tigers will continue section action on Thursday when they take a trip to Seneca Valley.  Kickoff against the Raiders is scheduled for 3:30 pm.

RAMS EDGE TIGERS AGAIN, 1-0

by Boys Soccer Contributor & Lee Mohn

(9/16/12) For the second time in two weeks, the North Allegheny Boys Soccer Team played a tight, competitive game against the Pine-Richland Rams, but again came up short in a 1-0 loss.

In the first half, the teams traded possession of the ball, with starters Sean Dickerson and Joe Durante anchoring the middle of the defense for the Tigers, while Steve Binning and Jason Buchert manned the outside.  Kevin White, Suyash Fulay, Dylan Appessos, and Alex Dorazio transitioned the ball up from the midfield to forwards Alex Correa and Chris Richards.  With 19 minutes left in the half, substitute Wyatt Klipa chased down a long ball, worked it out of the corner, and got it to Chris Richards for a scoring opportunity but the Tigers were kept off the board to keep the game scoreless.  Pine-Richland created several chances in the first half, but Joe Murphy made six saves to keep a clean sheet going into halftime.  In a half dominated by defense, NA managed one shot on goal and Pine Richland had only four.

Pine Richland would score just 1:38 into the 2nd half when they converted on a corner kick.  Pat Sullivan took the corner from Brendan Bogosta.  The corner traveled just through the box and Sullivan was able to get a shot off then deflected the rebound with his left foot from a tough angle into the back of the net for the only goal of the game.

The Tigers did their best to battle back, with contributions from both the starters and subs, including Ben Ziolkowski, Ben Stahl, Nate Gross, Peter Tobias, Duncan Riding, Andy Mahler, and Amatoj Satjit.  The team’s best two best chances came on corner kicks by Steve Binning, as Sean Dickerson went high to head one just off target and then put a second chance on goal, but the Ram’s goalkeeper Grant Goldberg was able to make the save.

The Rams were able to clamp the defense down even tighter as the game progressed and they held on to victory.  Joe Murphy was named our Wright Automotive player of the game for his stellar play in goal.

Pine Richland remains undefeated and still has not given up a goal this year in there six victories.  North Allegheny drops to 3-2 and 2-2 in section play. North Allegheny Boys soccer will be back in action on Tuesday at 7:45pm against the newest section member, the Hampton Talbots.

FULAY NETS GAME WINNER IN DOUBLE OT TO LIFT
TIGERS OVER BUTLER

by Boys Soccer Contributor

(9/14/12) In double overtime, the North Allegheny Boys Soccer Team outlasted the Butler Golden Tornado on Thursday night for a 1-0 victory.  This was a game like no other this season for the Tigers who were relentless in pursuing the opposing goal and playing take away at every opportunity.

In the first half Alex Correa, Chris Richards, Alex Dorazio, Kevin White and Peter Tobias covered the front and the midfield.  Attempts by Tobias and Dorazio at twenty minutes in the half came up empty as the game remained scoreless.  With 15 minutes left, Butler had a chance to score on a corner kick but did not capitalize on the opportunity.  With ten minutes left in the half, Sean Dickerson attempted a header from a play by Correa but came away empty.  With 5:55 left in the first half, Correa made another attempt at a goal with a pass to Dorazio but could not score.  Right at the whistle to end the first half, Richards ran down opponent Sam Nagy chasing the ball into the corner as the Golden Tornado ran out of time to score.  The back line was solid like a rock in the first half with the likes of senior Joe Durante as consistent as ever.

The start of the second half saw solid defense from the Tigers with senior Nate Gross holding the outside.  Jason Buchert contributed as well making the back line formidable and shutting the Butler offense down.  At 25:26 left in the half, Dorazio shot on goal and missed, and Duncan Riding stepped in to help the offense pressure.  With 14:09, Joe Murphy stepped up to the plate to stop Butler’s shot at goal and the game continued at 0-0.  In the first overtime period, Luke Nolan and Murphy did a nice job of hoarding the goal to keep the game scoreless. With 3:12 left Nolan had yet another save to keep the score at 0-0.

The second 10-minute overtime began with the Tigers sensing victory.  With 4:39 left, and about 30 yards from the goal, Richards drew a foul setting the stage for game winning goal.  On the game winning effort, sophomore Steve Binning kicked the ball to Dickerson who headed the ball to Suyash Fulay who headed the ball a second time, scoring the only goal for the night and winning the game for North Allegheny, 1-0.  The play was an extraordinary effort in which the ball never touched the ground before landing in the Butler net.

With the victory, North Allegheny improves to 3-1 on the season and 2-1 in Section 2.  Butler falls to 3-2-2 and 1-2-2 in section play.  The Tigers host the first place Pine-Richland Rams on Saturday night at Newman Stadium, a game that can be heard live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.

SECOND HALF SURGE POWERS TIGERS PAST TROJANS, 3-2

Wyatt Klipa's goal with thirteen minutes to go proved to be the game winner, giving North Allegheny a 3-2 comeback win against the host Trojans of McDowell High School.  Mid-fielder Steve Bennig collected the ball in the McDowell box, and pushed it over to Klipa, who buried a shot under the cross bar. Peter Tobias and Alex Correa also scored second half goals, allowing the Tigers to erase a halftime deficit and score a non-conference win in Erie.

The Tigers started the game with a blistering attack, keeping the ball in McDowell’s end of the field, but were unable to creating many scoring chances.  McDowell also had opportunities to score, but North Allegheny goalkeeper Luke Nolan stopped several breakaway opportunities to keep the Tigers in the game.  With just 4 minutes in the half, Tobias flicked a header on to striker Chris Richards who chipped a shot over the goalie, but the ball never crossed the line.  The ball was subsequently cleared out to Trojan Ryan Huffman down the left wing.  Huffman drove to the goal and tucked a low shot inside the far post, giving McDowell a 1-0 lead at the half.

North Allegheny scored the equalizer ten minutes into the second half when Richards chased a pass into the box and skillfully pulled it away from the McDowell goalie.  Richards then crossed to Alex Correa, who in turn found Tobias for an emphatic goal.  Following the ensuing kickoff, McDowell’s Luke Trancone went end-to-end to put the Trojans back in the lead.  Correa quickly answered for the Tigers.  After fighting off two defenders, he punched in a goal from 10 yards out, setting the stage for Klipa's game winner.

BOYS SOCCER SCORES WIN AGAINST SHALER

In a make-up game due to storms earlier in the week, the Tigers won their first section game over the season over Shaler, 4-2.  The game started with a quick goal by North Allegheny's Dylan Apessos.  The NA boys maintained pressure on the Titans when Apessos crossed a ball to Chris Richards that resulted in the second goal of the game. Shaler began to press and established an offensive attack, but Joe Murphy came up big in goal by stopping a number of attempts.  Near the end of the half, Ryan Landry finally put Shaler on the board, squeaking one past Murphy.  The Tigers quickly responded when Sean Dickerson, who pressed hard throughout the contest, carried the ball into the box.  He feinted left then placed the ball far post, allowing North Allegheny to re-establish its two-goal lead as the half concluded.

Shaler began the second half with a shot that rang off the crossbar. The Titans became more physical and started winning the ball, but their efforts were repeatedly crushed by the Tigers.  With less than two minutes in the game, the squads traded goals, but time ran out for the Titans.

The victory evened North Allegheny's record to 1-1 within the conference.  Up next for the Tigers is a non-section match at McDowell on Monday.  Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm.

BOYS SOCCER DROPS SECTION OPENER TO PINE-RICHLAND

by Boys Soccer Contributor

Weather cooperated on Thursday night, allowing the boys soccer team to complete their first contest of the season.  Unfortunately for the Tigers, they fell 1-0 at the hands of section rival, Pine-Richland.  To begin section play, the starting line-up included Joe Murphy in goal, strikers Ryan Fulton and Chris Richards, mid-fielders Alex Correa, Sean Dickerson, Dylan Apessos, and Kevin White, and defenders Joe Durante, Suyash Fulay, Jason Buchert and Steve Bennig. Substitutes included Ben Stahl, Nate Gross, Ben Ziolkowski, Peter Tobias, Alex Dorazio and Andy Mahler, who also started the second-half.

Though North Allegheny initially possessed the ball, Pine-Richland countered with two quick breakaways, both stopped cold by Joe Murphy.  A later breakaway by a Rams player beat Murphy to the far post for the score with 8:56 to go in the half.  Keeping the Tigers in the game, Murphy bounced back, stopping Pine-Richland on numerous odd-man opportunities.

The second half opened with Pine-Richland narrowly missing with a soft chip shot which was pushed over the crossbar. Both teams played aggressively, and for some efforts received yellow cards. Inside of seventeen minutes to go in the game, a Rams striker attacked down to the right side, and turned towards the goal. Defender Joe Durante rocketed in, stopping the shot point-blank. The resulting corner kick went to the far post with a Rams midfielder redirecting the kick with a strong header towards the near post.  Murphy again reacted quickly, stopping the ball from going in the net.

With just three minutes left in the game, North Allegheny was awarded a free kick from just outside of the Pine-Richland box.  Ryan Fulton curved the free kick over the wall of Rams, with Chris Richards narrowly missing a game-tying header, allowing Pine-Richland to preserve the shutout.

Boys soccer will be back in action Saturday night against Shaler.  The contest was rescheduled from earlier in the week, due to lightning.  Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 pm at Newman Stadium.

TIGERS WASHED OUT AGAINST CATHEDRAL PREP

On Saturday, NA started a home game against Erie Cathedral Prep but was rained out after just 25 minutes.  From the start, NA showed dominance in the mid-field and defense, with ECP having limited looks at the NA goal.  With only 10 minutes into the game, Ryan Fulton, took the ball in the mid-field and made space for a shot from 25 yards out, placing a perfect shot into the upper 90 with no chance of a save by ECP’s goalie.

Just five minutes later, Sean Dickerson controlled the ball on the left mid-field, dribbled through a defender, pulling in the next defender which left Kevin White open on the wing. White took the ball to the end line and crossed it as Chris Richards cut in front of a defender and placed a perfect header inside the far post, putting NA up 2-0.  Fulton, having already found success on his first goal, placed a mirror image left-footer shot under the cross bar, leaving the Prep goalie frozen in place and putting NA up 3-0.

Before the game was called due to weather, Cathedral Prep put together a quick run resulting in a goal. The game ended after just 25 minutes with a 3-1 score at the whistle. This game has not yet been scheduled for make-up.
