NA BOYS EARN STATE TITLE

(11/3/12) The North Allegheny Boys Water Polo Team took home a state championship on Saturday with a victory over perennial powerhouse Cumberland Valley, 12-9.  The Tigers’ win over the Eagles in the championship game was preceded by a 16-6 victory over host North Penn in the quarterfinals and a 21-12 defeat of Erie Cathedral Prep in the semifinals. 

In addition to the state title, North Allegheny had seven players named to the All-State Team.  Senior Rob Clinger, along with sophomores Charles Ross and Max Staresinic, were First-Team selections.  Senior Dom Caputo earned Second-Team laurels while Third-Team accolades went to seniors Alex Shaffer and Steven Siclari.  Junior Gabe Gaspar claimed an Honorable Mention selection.  To go along with all of the players' success, North Allegheny head coach Nikola Malezanov was selected by the state's water polo coaches as the Coach of the Year.

LADY TIGERS TAKE 5th AT STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

(10/29/12) The North Allegheny Girls Water Polo Team took fifth place at the State Championships over the weekend.  The Lady Tigers reached the quarterfinals with a 6-2 win over Pennridge and played their best game of the season with an 11-9 victory over the host Cumberland Valley Eagles.  The NA Girls were eventually eliminated by Souderton in the quarterfinals, 15-6.  The State Tournament ends an outstanding season for the Lady Tigers in which three NA players were named All-State.  Esma Dollaku was a Second-Team All-State selection and was also named to the All-Freshman Team.  Senior Mary Riley and junior Mia Siclari were both named Third-Team All-State. 

While the Lady Tigers have completed their season, the NA Boys will be in action this weekend at the State Championships at North Penn High School.  Action begins at 4:00 pm on Friday and will last throughout the day on Saturday as the Tigers aim to become state champions.
