LETO, HAMMEL CLAIM MEDALS (10/1/12) North Allegheny’s Lizzie Hammel and Megan Leto both came home with medals at the WPIAL Girls Golf Individual Finals on Monday afternoon. One of four Lady Tigers representing North Allegheny at the finals, Hammel garnered silver by shooting an 80 at Three Lakes Golf Course in Penn Hills. In an exciting finish, freshman Megan Leto shot an 86 and won a playoff for seventh place and the final qualifier for the PIAA Championships. Leto shot a 41 on the back nine and outlasted Fox Chapel’s Ashley Demoss, Peters Township’s Alana Hiner, and Upper St. Clair’s Melissa Kearney for the last remaining in spot. Narrowly missing the cut was juniors Kesley Phillips with an 87 and Marlee Tyler with a 96. Hammel and Leto advance to the PIAA Championships at Heritage Hills in York, PA to be held on October 22. In the meantime, undefeated North Allegheny will head to the WPIAL Team Finals on Thursday, October 11. WPIAL INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIP
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS FINISH REGULAR SEASON UNDEFEATED (9/26/12) North Allegheny Girls Golf achieved an impressive goal on Wednesday, capping off an undefeated regular season by way of a 167-191 victory over Pine-Richland. Lizzie Hammel led the field with a score of 39. As they have all season, the Lady Tigers showed their depth, with Kelsey Phillips, Marlee Tyler, and Megan Leto scoring for North Allegheny. The four girls will also compete at the WPIAL Individual finals on Monday, October 1. Next up for the Lady Tigers in team competition is the WPIAL team finals, scheduled for October 11. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS SHOOT DOWN TITANS, 184-225 (9/25/12) For the second time in five days, the North Allegheny Girls Golf Team towered over the Shaler Titans for a section victory. After beating Shaler on last week, 164-241, the Lady Tigers duplicated the feat with a 184-225 win at Shannopin Country Club on Tuesday afternoon. North Allegheny was paced by senior Lizzie Hammel who shot a 40 at the Tigers home course. Juniors Kelsey Phillips, Carolyn Jack, and Marlee Tyler all followed by shooting a 44, 49, and 51 respectively. North Allegheny takes their perfect 15-0 record and 12-0 section mark to Pine-Richland this afternoon in the Lady Tigers regular season finale. Tee time is set for 4:00 pm. MATCH SUMMARY

Next up for the Lady Tigers is a match with Shaler on Tuesday. North Allegheny met the Titans just four days ago, winning easily at Pheasant Ridge. (9/21/12) North Allegheny headed into the weekend with a 164-241 victory over the Shaler Titans on Friday afternoon at Pheasant Ridge Country Club. The Lady Tigers were paced by Megan Leto who shot a 38 to lead all golfers on the day.

(9/20/12) Twelve ladies qualified out of Section 1 for the WPIAL Individual Finals, and four them belong to the North Allegheny Tigers. At the WPIAL Qualifier Thursday afternoon at Pine-Richland, four out of the five Lady Tigers who competed posted scores low enough to reach the Finals on Monday, October 1. Senior Lizzie Hammel led NA golfers with a 76, freshman Megan Leto shot an 81, junior Kelsey Phillips posted an 88, and junior Marlee Tyler shot a 91. All four will represent the Tigers at the WPIAL Finals. The entire NA Girls Golf Team returns to action Friday with a visit to Shaler. (9/19/12) In far from ideal conditions, the Lady Tigers won their 12th in-a-row with a 169-282 win over Ambridge on Tuesday afternoon. The NA Girls braved a cold, windy day to post some of their best scores of the season and also match their best team score of 169. The Lady Tigers previously shot a 169 on September 5 at Blackhawk.
While Ambridge folded in the adverse conditions, Kelsey Phillips and Marlee Tyler thrived as the juniors each shot a 41. Senior Lizzie Hammel posted a 42 and Carolyn Jack rounded out the day with a 45. The best the Bridgers could muster was a 65 by Maya Niven.
The Lady Tigers are now 12-0 overall and 10-0 in section play. NA will send members of the team to the WPIAL Qualifier on Thursday and then return to action collectively again on Friday at Shaler. Tee time is set for 2:30 pm.

(9/13/12) North Allegheny's Girls Golf Team continued to leave teams in their wake after a 183-231 victory over Butler on Thursday. Kelsey Phillips and Carolyn Jack set the pace for the Lady Tigers, each with a 45 to her credit. Jack became the fourth different member of the squad to lead in scoring this season, joining Phillips, Megan Leto, and Lizzie Hammel.
The win was the eleventh in a row to start the season for North Allegheny. They will look to make it an even dozen on Tuesday when they meet Ambridge for a section contest at 3:00 pm.

(9/12/12) As they have for much of the year, Megan Leto and Lizzie Hammel found themselves atop the leaderboard, powering North Allegheny past Seneca Valley at Connequenesing on Wednesday. Kelsey Philips and Marlee Tyler also scored for the Lady Tigers, who won their eighth section match of the year and tenth overall. They will conclude their week of section opponents on Thursday when they entertain Butler at Shannopin. MATCH SUMMARY

(9/11/12) Megan Leto's 40 propelled the North Allegheny Girls Golf Team over Mars and Ambridge in a tri-meet at Shannopin. Overall, the Lady Tigers scored 179. The Planets came in second with a 206, while Ambridge finished third. The victory pushes North Allegheny's section record to 7-0, while boosting their overall mark to 9-0.
With five days since their last match, opportunity was there for the Lady Tigers to show some rust. However, Lizzie Hammel, Marlee Tyler, and Kelsey Phillips all broke 50, solidifying a sweep for North Allegheny on Tuesday afternoon.
North Allegheny returns to action on Wednesday at Seneca Valley. In their previous meeting this season, the Lady Tigers defeated the Raiders 171-241 and will look to sweep the season series. Tee time is slated for 3:00 pm. MATCH SUMMARY

(9/6/12) After a record setting performance the day before, the North Allegheny Girls Golf Team avoided a let down and bested the Pine-Richland Rams on Thursday afternoon, 184-200, at Shannopin Golf Course.
The Lady Tigers were paced by senior Lizzie Hammel who shot a 40 to lead all golfers on the day. Junior Kelsey Phillips followed with a 44. Megan Leto and Molly Durham rounded out NA's totals with a 47 and 53 respectively. For Pine-Richland, it was a rough day as Maura Kelly, Hope Lowry and Anya Chopra all scored 49's to lead the Rams.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * NA LADY GOLFERS CONTINUE TO ROLL, DOMINATE BLACKHAWK
(9/5/12) The North Allegheny Girls Golf Team earned another impressive victory on Wednesday with a dominating 169-203 victory over Blackhawk. The score of 169 was the lowest ever for the Lady Tigers and helped NA to remain perfect on the season.
To produce such an extraordinary score, it took a complete team effort by the Lady Tigers as almost the entire squad finished near the top of the score sheet. Senior Lizzie Hammel and junior Kelsey Phillips led the day with 41's respectively. Freshman Megan Leto followed closely behind with a 42 and junior Molly Durham notched a strong score of 45. All of the Lady Tigers shot lower than any of golfer from Blackhawk. The best Blackhawk could manage was a 47 by Kayla Turcani.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the section. The Lady Tigers return to action on Thursday afternoon with a section meeting against the Pine-Richland Rams. Tee time is scheduled for 3:30 pm. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS STAY PERFECT, BOUNCE BUTLER FOR SECTION WIN
(8/28/12) The Lady Tigers avenged their only section loss from a year ago by handily defeating the Butler Golden Tornado on Tuesday afternoon, 174-196. The Golden Tornado handed North Allegheny their only section loss in 2011, forcing a split of the section title. However, on Tuesday it was the Lady Tigers who laid claim to a convincing early season victory over their section foes from Butler.
Senior Lizzie Hammel led all golfers by shooting a 38 on the day. Freshman Megan Leto was also impressive with a 39. Kelsey Phillips and Molly Durham were solid with scores of 46 and 51 respectively. Butler's top golfer was Tori Hesidence who posted a 42. The rest of Butler squad shot a 48 or higher leaving the Tigers with a comfortable win.
North Allegheny's record now sits at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in section play. The Lady Tigers will try to run their winning streak to six straight with another section match, this time with a visit to Blackhawk on Wednesday, September 5. Tee time is set for 3:00 pm. MATCH SUMMARY

(8/23/12) The North Allegheny Girls Golf Team completed their first week of competition with an unblemished mark, sailing past Seneca Valley, 171-241. Freshman Megan Leto was the medalist, leading the Lady Tigers in scoring for the second straight day by shooting a 40 on the front nine of Shannopin. Teammate Lizzie Hammel was hot on her heels with a score of 41. Kelsey Phillips, Marlee Tyler and Molly Durham continued to show the depth of North Allegheny, with each shooting in the mid-40's. It was the first time this season five Lady Tiger golfers shot under 50 in competition.
The victory gives North Allegheny a 2-0 record in section competition. Overall, the Lady Tigers sit at 4-0, in addition to winning the Chairman's Cup on August 20. They will put their undefeated mark to the test on Tuesday against section foe Butler. The match against the Golden Tornado is the only scheduled contest for the girls golf team next week. (8/22/12) The Lady Tigers kicked off the home portion of their schedule with a pair of victories at Shannopin Country Club, overwhelming Mt. Lebanon 175-187, and Gateway 175-250. Freshman Megan Leto placed first among North Allegheny golfers, with a 42 through the nine hole round. Teammates Lizzie Hammel and Kelsey Phillips each finished with a 44, while Molly Durham rounded out the scoring for the Lady Tigers with a 45. Mt. Lebanon's Lily Oppenheimer led all golfers, shooting a 1-over 36 on the difficult front nine of Shannopin.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS KNOCK OFF MARS FOR FIRST SECTION VICTORY, 178-188 (8/21/12) The North Allegheny Girls Golf Team followed up their impressive victory at the Chairman's cup on Monday by defeating Mars, 178-188, on Tuesday afternoon at Rittswood Golf Course. The win was the first section match for the Lady Tigers in 2012. Senior Lizzie Hammel paced North Allegheny with a 2-over 38. Hammel finished a stroke behind Mars golfer and medalist Bridget Merton. The depth of the Lady Tigers won the day for North Allegheny, with juniors Marlee Tyler and Kelsey Phillips, and shooting 45 and 47, respectively. Freshman Megan Leto followed her impressive 18-hole performance at the Chairman's Cup with a 48, rounding out the scoring for North Allegheny. The Lady Tigers will continue their first week of competition on Wednesday afternoon, when they welcome Mt. Lebanon and Gateway to Shannopin Golf Club. First tee times are scheduled for 3:30 pm. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS TAKE FIRST PLACE (8/20/12) The Lady Tigers made quite a splash in their first outing of the season as the NA Girls garnered first place on Monday at the annual Chairman’s Cup at Cedar Creek Golf Course. The Lady Tigers breezed by the competition, finishing 17 shots better than second place Peters Township. Bethel Park and Sewickley Academy took third and fourth at the event. Senior Lizzie Hammel claimed a gold medal at the Cup and led the way for NA by shooting a 75. Freshman Megan Leto made an impressive debut as she and junior Kelsey Phillips each shot an 80. Junior Molly Durham scored an 88 to help North Allegheny to a team score of 323. Following a terrific performance at the Chairman’s Cup, the Lady Tigers will take on their first section opponent of the season on Tuesday as North Allegheny visits Mars. Tee time is set for 3:15 pm. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * HAMMEL TO GOLF FOR TEAM USA AT 2012 EURO CUP North Allegheny golfer Lizzie Hammel will represent Team USA at the 2012 Euro Cup in St. Andrews, Scotland in late July. The Lady Tigers senior was selected from a group of 500 International Junior Golf Tour members to play for Team USA. The Euro Cup, held on July 20-28, is a three-way, match play event in which Hammel and Team USA will compete against the Canadian Junior Golf Association and FIFE Team Scotland. Hammel is part of a 14-member team competing in the girls’ under-19 division with 54 holes of triangular match play. In her junior year, Hammel reached the WPIAL Individual Finals and helped the Lady Tigers to a fourth place finish in the WPIAL Semifinals.
