* MEET SUMMARIES * NA BOYS WIN 8th CONSECUTIVE WPIAL TITLE,
(10/26/12) The NA Boys Cross Country Team claimed their eighth consecutive Class AAA WPIAL Championship on Thursday afternoon as the Tigers crushed the competition with a team score of 50. The Tigers next closest competitor was Fox Chapel who finished a distant second with 136 points. The Lady Tigers were also impressive at Cooper’s Lake and claimed a silver medal with a team score of 97, finishing 11 points ahead of perennial favorite North Hills who took third.
In what has been their style throughout the fall, the NA Boys placed five of their athletes in the top 15 to easily obtain the gold. Senior Josh Zemet paced the Tigers with a seventh place finish and a time of 16:32. Sophomores Matt McGoey and Seamus Love earned eighth and 10th place finishes to push NA toward victory.
For the Lady Tigers, it was freshman Madeleine Davison who led the way with a time of 19:46, good for ninth place. Finishing just one second behind Davison was NA's Caroline Bojarski at 19:47 and a 10th place showing.
Both of NA's Cross Country Teams will aim for a state championship next Saturday at the PIAA Championships in Hershey.

NA BOYS TAKE 1st PLACE , GIRLS 2nd AT
(10/19/12) In a final tune-up before the WPIAL Championships next week, the NA Boys claimed first place and the Lady Tigers took second place at the Tri-State Coaches Association Invitational. The meet was held at Cooper's Lake in Slippery Rock, the same location of the WPIAL Championships on Thursday, October 25.
The NA Boys team placed five runners in the top 13 with Josh Zemet leading the way with a time of 16:11. Zemet earned fifth place individually and was followed by Matt McGoey, Scott Seel, Seamus Love, and Cordon Louco in the top 13 and help the Tigers to a team score of 49.
The Lady Tigers posted a team score of 135 with freshman Madeleine Davis earning the top time amongst NA runners at 19:09. Junior Caroline Cwalina finished in 10th place with a time of 19:17.
Having already garnered a section title, both NA Cross Country Teams look for a WPIAL Championship next week at Cooper's Lake.

CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS CLAIM WINS OVER SENECA VALLEY, BUTLER
(10/10/12) The North Allegheny Cross Country Teams picked up another sweep in a tri-meet on Tuesday, racing past section foes Seneca Valley and Butler. A pair of underclassmen ruled the day for the Tigers. Sophomore Seamus Love won the boys race with a time of 16:54. He was the only runner to break 17 minutes. Not to be outside, freshman Madeleine Davison took home gold in the girls race, eking out a win over teammate Caroline Bojarski.
The victory capped off another section title for the North Allegheny boys team, the third in a row for the Tigers. The girls team finished second in their section, behind North Hills. Both teams will have over a week off before their next race, the Tri-State Invitational on October 18. The race will be the final tune up prior to the WPIAL Championships at Cooper Lake on October 25.

NA BOYS NAB 1st PLACE, GIRLS 3rd AT CENTRAL CATHOLIC INVITE
(10/7/12) The North Allegheny Cross Country Team took home gold and bronze hardware at the Central Catholic Invitational this weekend. The NA Boys put forth a dominant performance to take first place, while the Lady Tigers grabbed third place behind a strong outing by Madeleine Davison.
Nellis paced the Lady Tigers with a time of 19:17, good for eighth place individually. Katie Guarnaccia finished in the top 20 with a time of 20:03, taking 18th place. Kelsey Neff was solid with a time of 20:18.
The NA Boys were fantastic and torched the competition with a team score of 27 and had five runners finish in the top 10. Matt McGoey took second place with a time of 16:13 and was followed tightly by Mike Meehan who take third place with a 16:14. Seamus Love, Cordon Louco, and Scott Seel also shined and finished in sixth, seventh, and ninth place respectively.
North Allegheny returns to section action on Tuesday with a tri-meet against Seneca Valley and Butler. The meet at Seneca will get underway at 3:30 pm.

TIGERS CROSS COUNTRY TAKES DOWN PINE-RICHLAND, KNOCH
(10/2/12) Throughout the season, North Allegheny runners have been comfortable leading the pack, and Tuesday was no exception. Both the girls and boys teams swept their respective section tri-meet competition, defeating Pine-Richland and Knoch.
Freshman Madeleine Davison won the girls race, with a time of 20:07. Teammate Caroline Bojarski was a close runner-up, two seconds off the pace. The two girls crossed the finish line nearly a minute before their closest competitor. Junior Caitlin Carmody also cracked the top five. Overall, the Lady Tigers had five of the top eight finishers.
On the boys side, Josh Zemet ran away with first place, crossing the line at 16:48. Zemet was the only runner to break 17 minutes. Fellow Tiger runners Matt McGoey, Seamus Love, and Scott Seel finished in a pack to take fourth through sixth place, cementing another pair of victories for North Allegheny.
North Allegheny will travel to Pine-Richland next Tuesday for a tri-meet with the Rams and the Knights of Knoch. Races will commence at 4:00 pm.

TIGER RUNNERS SWEEP, SPLIT WITH NORTH HILLS AND SHALER
(9/26/12) In a section meet at Hartwood Acres on Wednesday, North Allegheny Cross Country defeated three of its four opponents. The boys team continued to fly past the competition, dominating North Hills and Shaler. Seamus Love won the race with a time of 17:17. Nicholas McClure took second, eight seconds off the pace. Overall, eight Tiger runners finished in the top ten, an outstanding showing against two section rivals.
The girls achieved a split in their race, defeating Shaler, but falling to a strong North Hills team. The Indians boasted three of the top four finishers, Leading the way for the Lady Tigers was junior Caroline Bojarski, finishing in fifth place. Hot on her heels was freshman Madeleine Davison, as both runners crossed the line just under the twenty minute mark.
North Allegheny will travel to Pine-Richland next Tuesday for a tri-meet with the Rams and the Knights of Knoch. Races will commence at 4:00 pm.

NA BOYS TAKE SECOND PLACE AT
(9/23/12) The North Allegheny Cross Country Team continued their success at area meets with a strong showing performance at the PIAA Foundation Invitational this weekend. The NA Boys claimed silver with a team score of 75, behind only Cardinal O'Hara. The Lady Tigers finished in eighth place by posting a team score of 267 with an average time of 21:30.
Sophomore Mike Meehan paced the NA Boys with a time of 16:49, good for sixth place individually. Senior Josh Zemet took ninth place with a time of 16:51 and was followed by Cordon Louco's 14th place finish at time of 17:05.
Leading the way for the Lady Tigers was senior Maddie Nellis with a time of 21:04. Following closely behind was junior Caitlin Carmody's time of 21:14 and junior Caroline Bojarski's effort of 21:21.
North Allegheny will be in section action on Wednesday afternoon as the Tigers visit Shaler, with North Hills, for a tri-meet that begins at 3:30 pm.

TIGERS SWEEP HAMPTON,
(9/16/12) The North Allegheny Cross Country Team performed well in the first section meet of the season by sweeping Hampton and Mars on Wednesday afternoon. The NA Boys defeated Hampton 24-35 and Mars 19-41. The Lady Tigers handled Hampton 21-38 and downed Mards 15-49.
Amongst the top efforts by the Tgers, senior Joshua Zemet finished second with a time of 16:32. Sophomore Seamus Love took fifth place with a 16:41 while Michael Becich, Matt McGoey and Cordon Louco all closely followed consecutively.
The Lady Tigers dominated the leader board with a first place finish by Madeleine Davison and a second place showing by Caroline Bojarski. Caroline Cwalina also netted a spot in the top four with a time of 20:08.
North Allegheny returns to action this Saturday in Hershey for the PIAA Foundation which starts at 9:30 am.

NA BOYS EARN GOLD AT BOARDMAN SPARTAN INVITATIONAL, GIRLS TAKE 2nd
(9/16/12) For the third straight year, the North Allegheny Boys Cross Country Team took first place at the Boardman Spartan Invitational in Youngstown, Ohio. Not to be outdone, the Lady Tigers claimed an impressive second place finish at the invitational this weekend. The NA Boys earned a collective score of 93 with an average time of 16:35 while the Lady Tigers posted a score of 106 with an average time of 20:10.
Senior Joshua Zemet led the boys with a time of 16:17 and placed 7th individually. Zemet was one of four Tigers who finished in the top 20. Junior Cordon Louco, sophomore Matt McGoey, and senior Michael Meehan also finished in the top 20 for NA.
On the girls side, there were three Lady Tigers who finished in the top 10. Freshman Madeleine Davison took second place with a time of 19:24. She was followed by junior Caroline Bojarski who finished ninth and senior Maddie Nellis who took 10th place.
North Allegheny will host their first section meet of the season on Tuesday as the Tigers face Hampton with Mars.

(9/8/12) At the Schenley Oval on Saturday, the North Allegheny boys won the Red, White, and Blue Classic, with five runners finishing in the top 25 overall. The Lady Tigers narrowly missed a podium finish, taking fourth place in their event. Josh Zemet led the boys team with a time of 16:07, good for 8th place. Teammates Cordon Louco, Scott Seel, Matt McGoey, Seamus Love, and Nicholas McClure all finished with sub-17 minute times as North Allegheny ran away with the gold. Mt. Lebanon took second place, while District 10 school Grove City ended in third. On the girls side, Caroline Bojarski anchored the Lady Tigers with a 24th place showing, crossing the line at 19:43. Maddie Nellis also broke the 20-minute barrier, finishing two spots behind Bojarski. In the girls team competition, Morgantown (WV) narrowly beat out Mt. Lebanon to take the first place trophy. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * NA CROSS COUNTRY COASTS TO VICTORY IN OPENER (9/4/12) The North Allegheny Cross Country Teams opened the 2012 schedule by cruising to wins over Erie Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria on Tuesday afternoon. The NA Boys won by a 21-40 score and the Lady Tigers breezed to an 18-45 victory. Cordon Louco was the highest finisher amongst the North Allegheny Boys with a time of 16:28. Scott Seel turned in a time of 16:42 and Matt McGoey earned a 16:50 as the Tigers took three of the top four spots in the meet with Cathedral Prep. In all, the NA Boys claimed seven of the top ten finishers. The Lady Tigers raced past Villa Maria in the girls' meet. NA earned nine of the top ten spots as the Lady Tigers displayed their high potential heading into the fall of 2012. Madeline Davison took first with a time of 19:28 and Caroline Bojarski wasn't far behind in second place with a 20:20. While one of Villa Maria's runners claimed third, the rest of the score sheet read as a who's who of Lady Tigers in a dominating performance.
