NA Notches Non-section Win Over Gateway, 66-33
The North Allegheny boys’ basketball team earned a convincing non-section win at Gateway on Monday night, 66-33. The Tigers held a 25-20 lead at the half and busted the game wide open with a strong third quarter, outscoring the Gators 24-8 in the period.
The Tigers doubled up the Gators by shooting 55-percent from the field, led by senior Anthony Hattrup, who netted 13 points. Senior Mike Egnaczyk and junior Justin Altmeyer added 10 points each.
The stingy NA defense limited Gateway to 28-percent shooting for the night and a paltry 17-percent (4 of 24) in the second half. The Gators did not have a player touch double figures.
North Allegheny improves to 11-8 on the season and will host North Hills on Friday night in the Section 1-6A finale. Tip-off is slated for 8:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
