Tigers Top Titans, 49-36

The North Allegheny boys’ basketball team earned a non-section victory at Shaler on Tuesday night, 49-36.

In a low-scoring affair, the Tigers limited the Titans to just 11 field goals on the night and built a 35-20 lead by the end of the third quarter. Shaler traded baskets with NA in the fourth quarter as the Tigers prevailed for the third time in the last four games.

Junior Jackson Howard led a balanced North Allegheny attack with a team-high 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Juniors Anthony Sciote and Ty Iwanonkiw both netted nine points each. Sciote was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to help put the Titans away.

Shaler did not have a double digit scoring on the evening thanks in part to NA’s suffocating defense. Brandon London was the top scorer for the Titans with nine points.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 7-8 on the season, while Shaler dips to 12-5 on the year. The Tigers return to section play on Friday with a home contest against New Castle. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
