Tigers Tower Over Titans For 6th Straight Win

Posted on:

North Allegheny won its sixth game in a row with a 74-60 home triumph over the Shaler Titans on Friday night in Section 1-AAAAAA action. The win was also NA’s eighth straight against Shaler. Similar to their first meeting with the Titans on December 20, the Tigers trailed at the half but busted the game open with a big second half. NA outscored the Titans, 50-34, in the second half.

In a game that featured 14 lead changes, the first two-and-a-half quarters were a seesaw affair. Senior Tanner Reinheimer netted a game-high 24 for Shaler and helped the Titans to a 26-24 lead by intermission.

After shooting just 27-percent in the first half, the Tigers roared back in the second half thanks to 48-percent shooting from the field and took a 35-34 lead midway through the third quarter, a lead they would not relinquish. North Allegheny also outrebounded Shaler, 44-22, to control the glass and the final two quarters. Senior Isaac Barnes paced the Tigers with 17 points and nine rebounds on his way to Wright Automotive Player of the Game honors.  Along with Barnes, juniors Curtis Aiken and Ray Sandherr netted 15 points apiece.

North Allegheny improves to 10-4 overall and 5-2 in Section 1. Shaler slips to 3-12 overall and 0-7 in section play. The Tigers will try to extend their winning streak on Tuesday night with a visit to top-ranked and undefeated Pine-Richland.
