NA Slow-Pitch Tops Mt. Pleasant, Advances To Semifinals

The sixth-seeded Lady Tigers were visitors to the third-seeded Lady Vikings of Mt. Pleasant at Graham Park in the quarterfinal round of the WPISL playoffs.The Lady Tigers, still reeling over the regular season sweep of them by Mt. Pleasant, were determined to put a complete game together for this elimination round.
The Lady Tigers continued to set the tone early and often as their bats were red-hot and scored 19 runs through five innings. Several defensive gems were also turned in by the Lady Tigers, including a great stretch and hold at 1st base by senior Jordyn Lilienthal, a critical double play by junior Kayla MacDonald at shortstop, and a game ending run-down put out by senior Carly Martin between 3rd base and 2nd base. Also, a dominating pitching and defensive performance was turned in by senior Lacey Stalter, who recorded her 10th win of the season. The Lady Tigers upset Mt. Pleasant by a score of 19-5 in dominating fashion.
Leading the Lady Tigers on offense were senior Carly Kovalchik who went 1 for 3 with a 3-run home run and 3 RBI’s, junior Julia Lagnese who went 3 for 4, senior Jordyn Lilienthal who went 4 for 4 with two 2-run home runs and 4 RBI’s, senior Lacey Stalter who went 3 for 4 with 1 RBI, senior Carly Martin who went 2 for 4, junior Kayla MacDonald who went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s, senior Paulette Rollant who went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s, junior Claire Skirtich who went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s, and freshman Abby Birch who went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s.
The Lady Tigers advance to the semifinal round against the second-seeded Plum Lady Mustangs this Saturday at 4:00 PM at Blueberry Park Field #1.
Lady Tigers Win Playoff Meeting With Raiders

The sixth-seeded Lady Tigers hosted the 11th-seeded Lady Raiders of Seneca Valley at Graham Park in the opening round of the WPISL playoffs. The Lady Tigers set the tone early and often and jumped out to a commanding 16-2 lead through 3 innings. However, as Seneca Valley had shown in two prior regular season contests that they were a resilient group and whittled the NA lead down to 16-9. Having stranded runners in several consecutive innings, the Lady Tigers tightened their defense and closed out the game with a 16-12 victory, with the final out being a play at home plate. Senior Jordyn Zilian made the put-out at home on a great throw from 3rd base by senior Carly Martin.

The Lady Tigers advance to the quarterfinal round to face the third-seeded Mt. Pleasant Lady Vikings.
Tigers Slow-Pitch Drops Two To Plum On Senior Day

The Lady Tigers hosted the undefeated Lady Mustangs of Plum at MMS on Senior Recognition Day last weekend.
In game one of this doubleheader, NA lost by a score of 15-13. This game was a back-and-forth contest with several lead changes until the Lady Mustangs took the lead late and closed out the win. During the intermission between games, the following seniors were recognized for their Slow-Pitch Softball careers at North Allegheny: Co-Captain Carly Kovalchik, Co-Captain Carly Martin, Co-Captain Jordyn Lilienthal, Lacey Stalter, Paulette Rollant, Jordyn Zilian, and Caitlyn McDonough.
In game two, the Lady Tigers came out flat and never got their rhythm going that they had in game one. Plum won game two, 13 – 3. Contributing offensively on the day for the Lady Tigers were senior Jordyn Lilienthal who went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI’s, senior Carly Martin who went 4 for 5 with 3 RBI’s, senior Paulette Rollant who went 5 for 6 with 3 RBI’s, senior Jordyn Zilian who went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI, junior Kayla MacDonald who went 2 for 6 with 1 RBI, junior Julia Lagnese who went 3 for 6, and senior Carly Kovalchik also went 3 for 6. Defensive gems were turned in by juniors Claire Skirtich and Lagnese, as well as freshmen Abby Birch and Kenna White.
The Lady Tigers hope to rebound quickly as they take their 5-5 record on the road for a weeknight doubleheader vs. their long-time crosstown rival, the North Hills Lady Indians. Games are at 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM at Herb Field.
NA Slow-Pitch Runs Away From Baldwin For Sweep

The Lady Tigers traveled to Baldwin last weekend to take on the Lady Fighting Highlanders and came away with a doubleheader sweep, winning game on, 18-16, and game two, 16-14. In game one of this doubleheader, it was a back-and-forth contest with several lead changes until the Lady Tigers took charge and closed out the win. Senior Lacey Stalter was the winning pitcher. In game two, the Lady Tigers exploded with an 11-run first inning to take a commanding lead of the game. However, keeping true to their name, the Lady Fighting Highlanders did just that, chipping away at the NA lead to even the score midway through the game. Some timely hitting and defense brought the victory home for NA, with the a final score of 16-14. Stalter earned her second win on the day.
Contributing offensively for the Lady Tigers was junior Kayla MacDonald who went 5 for 9 on the day with 9 RBI’s, senior Carly Kovalchik who went 5 for 9 with 6 RBI’s, and Stalter who went 5 for 9 with 3 RBI’s. Also adding to the offense was senior Jordyn Lilienthal who went 6 for 9, and junior Julia Lagnese who went 5 for 10. T
he Lady Tigers travel to North Hills on Sunday, October 2 at 4:15 PM at Herb Field where they hope to continue their winning ways vs. the Lady Fighting Indians.
