Blake Craft named Big 56 Second Team All-Section

North Allegheny senior Blake Craft was named to the Big 56 6A Section 1 All-Section team in a release made by the Big 56 Conference on Wednesday morning. Craft was named to the second team.

Craft led the team averaging 10.9 points per game while being third on the team in rebounding grabbing 3.4 per game. Defensively, Craft was second on the team in blocks and assists with 10 blocks and 44 assists. Craft had 20 points in North Allegheny’s 64-37 win over Franklin Regional on February 1.

Rob Niederberger takes over as boys basketball coach

North Allegheny is proud to announce the hiring of Tiger alum Rob Niederberger as the new head coach of the North Allegheny boys basketball team.

Coach Niederberger brings 12 years of head coaching experience and a passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the court. Most recently, he served as the head coach at Shaler High School, where he had a 106-98 record in nine seasons. Shaler had finished in last place the three seasons before Coach Niederberger was hired and finished 2-20 his first year and 3-19 his second year. Shaler was 101-59 in Coach Niederberger’s last six seasons. Shaler’s 2023-2024 season was their best under Coach Niederberger, going to the WPIAL Semifinals and state quarterfinals. Prior to Shaler, Coach Niederberger was the head coach at Burrell from 2010-2013, where the Bucs made the WPIAL Championship in 2013.

Coach Niederberger played for the Tigers in his high school days. He is a 1999 graduate of North Allegheny.
