Late Comeback Not Enough As Jaguars Top Tigers
By: Jared Barton
The North Allegheny ice hockey team traveled to the Ice Castle Ice Arena for a matchup with Thomas Jefferson Thursday night. After finding themselves in a hole, the Tigers attempted to claw back late, but ultimately fell to the Jaguars 3-2.
TJ opened the scoring in the first period on a power-play goal from Owen Michael, assisted by Cam Lorenzi and Jacob Simon. The Jaguars added a second marker in the early stages of the second frame from Galvin Salopek, assisted by Simon again.
Garrett Fetzko added the necessary insurance marker for Thomas Jefferson less than four minutes into the final period. Cam Lorenzi and Lucas Blose had the assists on the goal. Just about 20 seconds later, NA found the back of the net on a goal from senior Joey Mitchell, assisted by fellow senior Kyle Imm and junior Cedric Otey. Imm later scored a goal of his own, assisted by Mitchell in the middle stages of the third.
Sophomore Chris Costa made 25 saves in the net for NA.
NA has lost three games in a row and now stands at 5-3 on the season. The Tigers are back home Monday for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with Upper St. Clair. That game will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
