Boys Wrestling rolls Mars to open section play, 50-20
North Allegheny traveled to Mars High School to open section play against the Fighting Planets on Wednesday night. The Tigers got off to a great start jumping out to a 20-0 lead, and coasting to a 50-20 victory.
Joseph Synan won by pin at 107 pounds to get things going. Bryce Prosser won by major decision, Dalton Stragand won by pin and Evan Schomburg claimed a major decision win to put NA up 20-0. Mars took the next three bouts to cut North Allegheny’s lead to 20-15 but three straight pins for the Tigers from Griffen Reid, Gabriel Hernandez and Brody Barnhart made the score 38-15. The Fighting Planets won by tech fall at 189 pounds before Charles Miller won by fall and Bradyn McConneha won by forfeit to give NA the 50-20 win.
North Allegheny improves to 7-1 overall and 1-0 in section play. Mars falls to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the section. The Tigers are off until after Christmas. They will return on Sunday, December 28 when they travel to Liberty High School to take part in the Bethlehem Holiday Classic.
