Four Tigers Named To PIHL All-Star Game

The North Allegheny ice hockey team had four players named to the PIHL AAA All-Star Game this week.
Senior captain Eddie Scherer, senior alternate captain Alex Costa, senior alternate captain Joey Mitchell and sophomore goalie Chris Costa all earned the laurels. This is the first all-star appearance for each player.
Mitchell leads the team with 13 total points and eight assists. He is currently tied for the team lead in goals with five. Scherer has three goals and five assists for eight total points.
Alex Costa has been a steady presence on the blue line throughout the season while contributing four goals and three assists for seven total points. He leads the team with two power play goals and 18 penalty minutes.
Chris Costa was the PIHL Player of the Month in October, putting up a 5-0 record to start the season. He currently sits at 5-2-3 overall with a 2.07 goals against average and .916 save percentage, which is fourth-best in the AAA classification.
The PIHL All-Star Games take place Sunday, January 25th at the RMU Island Sports Complex. Puck drop is to be determined. The entire 2026 AAA PIHL All-Star Roster can be found here.
