NA tripped up by Allderdice at Holiday Bash
North Allegheny hosted the Allderdice Dragons on Sunday afternoon at UPMC Court as a part of the Holiday Bash. In a tightly contested contest, the Tigers made multiple runs to get back into the game and had a chance to win it at the buzzer but ultimately fell by a score of 50-48.
The offense took a little to get going for NA as Allderdice score the first six points of the game. North Allegheny got on the board courtesy of Will Robertson with 2:54 left in the first quarter. Both offenses would get going and Allderdice lead 12-8 after a quarter of play. In the second quarter, it looked like the Dragons might pull away when they expanded their lead to 23-13, but a 9-0 Tiger run made the score 23-22. Allderdice would score the final four points of the quarter and lead 27-22 going into the half.
The Dragons hit a three-pointer to start the third quarter and make the score 30-22 before an 11-0 run gave NA their first lead of the day at 33-30. A top of the key three-pointer by Brady Brinkley gave North Allegheny the lead. Both teams would joust back-and-forth and we were tied 35-35 going into the final frame. The fourth quarter was tightly contested as the biggest lead either team could get was four. Trailing 50-48 with four seconds remaining, the Tigers got a stop and had a chance to win the game with a half-court shot. The shot hit the backboard and the rim but did not go and North Allegheny fell 50-48.
Blake Craft led the Tigers in scoring for the fifth time in 10 games with 15 points. For his efforts, Craft was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game. Robertson added 11 points.
North Allegheny falls to 6-4 overall. Allderdice improves to 6-4. The Tigers get back to section play on Friday when they host the Pine-Richland Rams at UPMC Court at 7 p.m. This game will be broadcast live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
