NA picks up big section win over Seneca Valley
North Allegheny hosted the Seneca Valley Raiders on Tuesday night at UPMC Court in a big Section 1-6A contest. With the Tigers sitting two games out of a playoff spot and looking to keep their playoff hopes alive, NA came away with a 50-42 win over Seneca Valley who was tied for second-place in the section.
North Allegheny got off to a great start jumping out to a 7-3 lead and led 15-9 after a quarter of play. The Tigers used three three-pointers in the second quarter and an 8-0 run, to expand their lead to 26-16 at halftime.
With NA leading 29-16 in the third quarter, the Raiders made a push going on a 15-2 run the remainder of the frame, to tie the score at 31-31 going into the fourth quarter. In the final frame, things stayed tight early but with North Allegheny leading 36-35, the Tigers got multiple steals and transition buckets to take a 45-35 lead. The teams traded buckets the remainder of the contest and NA came away with a massive 50-42 win to stay in the playoff hunt.
Blake Craft finished the game with 13 points. For his efforts on the offensive end along with multiple steals and assists, he was named the Wright Automotive player of the Game. Ben Coffman added 12 points.
North Allegheny improves to 7-9 overall and 3-6 in the section. Seneca Valley falls to 9-7 overall and 4-5 in section play. The Tigers return to action on Friday when they travel to Pine-Richland to take on the Rams in another big Section 1-6A matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
