Curtis Aiken Drops 41 Points On Butler In Section Win
North Allegheny bounced back from a loss over the weekend with an 87-70 drubbing of the Butler Golden Tornado on Tuesday night. Sophomore Curtis Aiken poured in a season-high 41 points and hauled in seven steals to pace the Tigers in the road victory. Aiken buried 4 of 6 from beyond the arc and added 15 of 19 shooting from the free-throw line.
NA trailed 21-16 after one period but caught fire in the second and third quarters for a 71-52 lead. The Tigers shot 59 percent from the field and never let up on the shell-shocked Tornado. Along with Aiken, senior Keegan Phillips touched double figures with a 16-point performance. Junior Ethan Maenza tallied 10 points.
For Butler, Joel Stutz netted a team-best 24 points and knocked down 4 of 7 from 3-point land. Tyler Frederick totaled 17 points and nine rebounds for the Tornado, and Connor Ollio contributed 10 points.
North Allegheny remains undefeated in Section 3-AAAA action with a 3-0 record and improves to 5-2 overall. Butler sinks to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in section play. The Tigers will host the Monessen Greyhounds on Tuesday, December 28 at 7:30 pm at the Wright Automotive Holiday Tournament. The game will be broadcast live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
