Golden Tornado Clips Tigers On the Road

North Allegheny boys’ basketball traveled to Butler for a section matchup and the second meeting of the season on Friday night. It was a close game, but the Golden Tornado came out on top with a 59-52 win.
Both teams were evenly matched in the first quarter, with senior Will Robertson drilling a three-pointer and junior Ben Coffman making three shots. Butler was paced by Tobias Geibel, who had two-three pointers in the opening period. Butler led 15-14 after the first.
North Allegheny added another 14 points in the second quarter alone, outscoring Butler 14-7 in the frame. Senior Blake Craft had a three-pointer, a made basket and two free throws, while junior Jahlil Archer added two buckets. NA led Butler 28-22 at halftime.
The turning point came in the third quarter when Butler outscored NA 26-8. NA had the better offensive play in the fourth quarter, outscoring Butler 16-11 and keeping the score close, but the Tornado held on for the win.
Craft finished the contest leading all scorers with 18 points, while Coffman had 12 points for the Tigers. Stainton Forbes paced the Golden Tornado with 16 points, Geibel finished with 12 points and Mavrik Clement had 10 points.
North Allegheny falls to 6-9 on the season and 2-6 in conference play. The Tigers are back at home Tuesday night for a section matchup with Seneca Valley. That 7:30 p.m. tipoff will be broadcast live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
