Gus Stedeford Signs To Wrestle At Mercyhurst

North Allegheny senior grappler Gus Stedeford has officially signed to wrestle in college.

Stedeford announced on social media in recent weeks that he will be joining the wrestling team at Mercyhurst University in the fall. He will study criminal justice.

The four-year varsity wrestler has a career record of 122-51 during his time with the Tigers, competing at 133, 139 and 145 pounds. This season, Stedeford finished first in the section at 133 pounds while taking a 6th place finish in the district with a 28-14 record.

During his junior campaign, Stedeford had a 35-13 overall record with a 2nd place finish in the section, 7th place mark in the district and 6th place finish in the region.

In his freshman and sophomore years, Stedeford finished 2nd place in the section in both seasons, while taking a 5th-place and 7th-place mark in the region, respectively. He had records of 28-12 and 31-12 in those seasons. He ends his high school career as a section champion, three-time section runner-up and placed in the WPIAL four times.

Mercyhurst University is one of the nation’s newest Division I wrestling programs, as the school recently transitioned from Division II.
