NA Impressive With 3rd-Place Showing At Kiski Area Duals

The North Allegheny boys’ wrestling team took part in the Kiski Area Duals on Saturday and came away with a 4-1 showing and third-place finish at the event.

The Tigers opened the day with a 48-27 loss to Pennridge and didn’t fall to defeat again the rest of the way. Following the loss to Pennridge, North Allegheny rebounded with a 39-30 victory over Peters Township. Trailing 30-18 with four bouts remaining, the Tigers rattled off four straight wins, including three by pin fall, to earn a come-from-behind victory. The comeback started with a win by fall for Kellen Buggey over Brody Ketner at 172 pounds, cutting the score to 30-24. The Tigers trimmed the deficit to 27-24 with a 4-3 decision by Mason Hartung over Parker Nave at 189 pounds. At 215 pounds, NA grabbed a 33-30 lead thanks to a quick pin fall by Kyran Rautenbach over Caleb Bebout in 25 seconds. At 285, Braden McConneha sealed a 39-30 victory with a win by fall over Zack Stromock.

Following their thrilling comeback against Peters Township, the Tigers earned another convincing victory with a 44-27 triumph over Hempfield.

In their fourth dual of the day against Yough, the Tigers used three pin falls and six forfeits to cruise to a 56-9 win. Victories by fall were claimed by William Bentrim at 133 pounds, Buggey at 172 pounds and Hartung at 189 pounds.

In the finale and third-place consolation, North Allegheny built a 35-12 lead and held on for a 35-30 victory against host Kiski. Wins by fall were earned by Griffen Reid at 139 pounds and Travis Stipetich at 160 pounds. For a look at all available results from the Kiski Area Duals, click here.

North Allegheny now sits at 7-2 on the season overall and will host its first home matchup of the season with a non-section dual against Norwin at 6:30 p.m. The dual with the Knights will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
