The North Allegheny boys’ basketball team traveled to Alumni Hall to face the reigning WPIAL champion Central Catholic Vikings on Tuesday night and dropped a 50-37 decision in Oakland.

The host Vikings took a 17-7 lead at the end of one quarter and held a 25-12 advantage by halftime. In a low-scoring affair, Central Catholic maintained its lead in the second half and held on for the win. The Vikings were paced by Vernon Settles and Peyton Wehner with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

While North Allegheny was held in check by the PCC defense, the Tigers did receive a spark off the bench from senior guard Ben Lukitsch, who scored nine points and poured in three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.

North Allegheny falls to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in Section 1-6A following the loss. Central Catholic improves to 8-5 overall and sits in first place in the section with a 4-1 mark. The Tigers look to bounce back on Friday night with a home date against the Seneca Valley Raiders. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
