Posted on:

North Allegheny hosted Woodland Hills in the second game of a girl/boy doubleheader at UPMC Court on Tuesday night. Things were close in the first quarter and even in the second half but a big run in the second quarter did the Tigers in as they fell 50-37.

It was a very competitive first quarter with neither team able to take more than a one-possession lead until Woodland Hills created some separation near the end of the period and led 15-10 after a quarter of play. The second quarter was tight early, but with the Wolverines leading 17-15, they went on an 11-0 run that lasted until the end of the second, and the Tigers trailed 28-15 at halftime.

The Wolverines expanded the lead to 32-16 early in the third quarter, but the Tigers fought back to make the score 40-28 going into the final frame. In the fourth quarter, North Allegheny got the deficit down to 10 multiple times but could never get it to single digits, and ultimately fell 50-37.

Blake Craft led the Tigers in scoring with 10 points. Jahlil Archer added nine. For his efforts on the offensive end, along with two dunks, Archer was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.

North Allegheny falls to 6-6 overall and 2-3 in section play. Woodland Hills improves to 7-5 overall and 3-2 in the section. The Tigers return to action on Friday when they host North Hills at UPMC Court at 8 p.m. This will be the second game of a girl/boy doubleheader and will be broadcast live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
