
NA Grapplers Top Butler, 44-17
Last season, Butler earned its first ever win in boys’ wrestling against North Allegheny. On Wednesday night at UPMC Court, there was not a repeat performance as the host Tigers breezed to a 44-17 win over the Golden Tornado in Section 2-AAA action.
North Allegheny built a 35-8 lead and clinched the dual meet with three bouts to go when senior Casey Walker pinned Ira Stiefel at 127 pounds to give the Tigers an insurmountable 41-11 lead. For his efforts, Walker was named the Wright Automotive Wrestler of the Meet.
Along with Walker’s win by fall, three other Tigers secured pin falls, including Travis Stipetich (152), Mason Hartung (189) and Bradyn McConneha (285). Bonus points were also awarded to Aidan Buggey (215) and Charlie LaQuatra (114), who earned major decisions in their respective weight classes. Full results are listed below.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 12-2 overall and stays perfect in Section 2-AAA with a 3-0 mark. Butler slips to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the section. The Tigers will take part in the Connellsville Duals on Saturday.
