NA Ice Hockey Hammers Norwin, 9-0
In a heavily one-sided contest, the North Allegheny Ice Hockey Team bombarded the Norwin Knights on Friday night by a 9-0 decision. On his way to a hat trick, sophomore Joseph Zappia broke the ice just 54 seconds into the game to give North Allegheny a 1-0 lead and the rout was on. Cooper Johnson and Erik Chidester added goals in the first period to push the Tigers advantage to 3-0.
An avalanche of goals in second period put the game away for North Allegheny. Zappia scored a pair in the second period, along with goals by Chidester, Daniel Bostedo and Dawson Richard as NA held an 8-0 lead after two. In the third, Tyler Wilson closed out the scoring at the 8:15 mark to bring the final to 9-0, Tigers.
The Tigers outshot Norwin 39-12 as Joe Hubert posted the shutout in net. Anthony Barca saw most of the time between the pipes for the Knights, making 25 saves.
North Allegheny improves to 7-2-1 on the season while Norwin remains winless at 0-9-0. The Tigers are idle over the Holiday break before returning to the ice with a visit to Fox Chapel on Tuesday, January 7. Face-off is slated for 6:30 pm.
