NA Locks Up Share Of Section Crown With Win at Seneca Valley
The North Allegheny wrestling team clinched at least a share of the Section 2-AAA title on Wednesday night with a 40-12 win at Seneca Valley.
The Tigers controlled the dual meet from start to finish and won 10 of 13 bouts. Earning pin falls for NA were freshman Evan Schomburg and junior Kellen Buggey. Schomburg pinned Riley Smith in 2:50 at 107 pounds, while Kellen Buggey pinned Brooks Beras in 5:48 at 172 pounds.
At 152 pounds, senior Travis Stipetich picked up a 14-0 tech fall over Angel Kristo. Also earning bonus point victories were junior Charlie LaQuatra (114) and sophomore Griffen Reid (139) with major decisions in their respective weight classes. See below for a look at all results.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 15-3 overall and 4-0 in Section 2-AAA. Seneca Valley slips to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in the section. The Tigers have a chance to lock up an outright section championship with a home meet with the Mars Planets on Wednesday, Jan. 24.
