NA Rambles On To 7-1 Win Over Cathedral Prep
The North Allegheny ice hockey team bounced back from its first loss of the season by throttling the Cathedral Prep Ramblers on Thursday night, 7-1, at Baierl Ice Complex.
The blowout win got off to a modest start in the first period with a single marker by Ed Scherer at the 5:42 mark of the opening stanza.
In the second period, North Allegheny exploded for five goals to take a commanding 6-0 lead. Ryan Jackman, Marc Joyson, Scherer, Brock Murphy and Evan Kerber all tallied markers in the period.
Kerber tacked on one more goal in the third period before Cathedral Prep broke the shutout on a power play goal by Ethan Cunningham at the 2:18 mark to bring the final score to 7-1, Tigers.
Goalie Andrew Long earned the win with 20 saves, while Tanner Ball made 21 stops in a losing effort.
North Allegheny improves to 3-1 on the season an jumps into a five-way tie for first place in a log jam at the top of the PIHL Class AAA standings. Cathedral Prep falls to 1-3 on the campaign. The Tigers will look to keep the offense going on Tuesday night at Central Catholic at 9:10 p.m.
