NA Upended By Peters Township, 74-64

Peters Township collected its third road victory of the week with a 74-64 win over the North Allegheny Tigers on Saturday night. The Indians trailed by eight points in the first quarter but used a huge second period to swing the momentum and take a 27-22 lead into halftime. Peters Township did not trail again for the remainder of the night.

The Tigers pounced on the Indians in the opening stanza behind the hot shooting of sophomore Curtis Aiken and senior Keegan Phillips. Aiken scored a team-high 24 points and Phillips added 20 points and NA duo was the catalysts for a first quarter that saw the Tigers take a 22-14 lead.

Peters Township bounced back in the second quarter, outscoring North Allegheny 23-10 for a five-point halftime lead. Senior forward Ben Doyle was key to the Indians comeback with 24 points and nine rebounds, falling narrowly shy of a double-double. Doyle and the Indians continued to pour it on in the second half and held North Allegheny to just 29 percent shooting for the rest of the game. Peters Township led by as much as 16 points in the third quarter and coasted to the win in the fourth.

Along with Doyle, three other players touched double figures for Peters Township. Nick Valentie netted 15 points, Kelson Marisa scored 13 points, and Clayton Yeates chipped in with 10.

North Allegheny slips to 4-2 overall with the non-section loss. Peters Township improves to 6-1 overall. The Tigers return to section play with a visit to Butler on Tuesday night.
