NA Upended By Peters Township In Non-Section Play
The North Allegheny boys’ basketball team dropped a 56-47 decision in non-section play to the Peters Township Indians on Friday night. The Indians used an 18-4 run in the second quarter to gain control of the game and staved off a North Allegheny rally in the fourth quarter.
Leading 16-15 after one quarter of play, Peters Township hit 7 of 10 shots from the field and limited NA to 2 of 12 shooting in the pivotal second quarter. The Indians were led by senior Sam Petrarca, who posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Colin Cote added 17 points for Peters Township.
North Allegheny was paced by senior Grant Timmerson with 16 points on 6 of 12 shooting. Timmerson was also 3 of 6 from beyond the arc. Joining Timmerson in double figures was junior Khalil Dinkins with 12 points. The Tigers outscored the Indians, 15-6, in the final quarter but the last-ditch rally proved to be too late.
North Allegheny falls to 4-4 overall following the loss, while Peters Township improves to 4-3 on the season. The Tigers will host Gateway on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. at the Wright Automotive Holiday Tournament. The contest will be broadcast live via the North Allegheny Sports Network.
