NA Wins First Of Season At Erie City, 52-50

The North Allegheny Tigers traveled to Erie on Saturday evening and came away with their first win of the season with a 52-50 triumph against Erie City in non-section play.

Tied 12-12 after one quarter, North Allegheny grabbed a 23-21 halftime lead thanks in part to a pair of 3-pointers from junior guard Joe Marquis. Marquis added another trey in the third period and finished with nine points on the night.

Sparked by junior guard Anthony Sciote, the Tigers posted a big third quarter and increased their lead to 38-32 heading into the final stanza. Sciote netted 10 of his game-high 20 points coming in the third period alone. In the fourth quarter, Sciote converted on 3-of-4 shots from the free-throw line to put Erie City away and secured a 52-50 victory for North Allegheny.

Junior Joey Dopirak also touched double figures for the Tigers with a 10-point effort. Andreas McCullum led Erie City with a team-best 19 points and four 3-pointers.

With the victory, North Allegheny improves to 1-4 on the season and will have the week off before returning to action on Tuesday, Dec. 27 against Imani Christian at the Wright Automotive Holiday Tournament. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
