NA Wrangles Mustangs For 4-1 Win

Posted on:

Following an overtime loss to Butler two weeks ago, the North Allegheny Tigers returned to the ice and the win column with a 4-1 triumph over the Plum Mustangs on Monday night at the Baierl Ice Complex. The Tigers trailed 1-0 just six seconds into the game on a goal by Plum’s Anthony Adamski, but North Allegheny scored four unanswered goals to claim the win on senior night.

NA outshot Plum, 32-15. Senior goalie Ryan Heil earned the win with 14 saves. Plum’s Sergio Benitez made 28 saves in a losing effort.

After Adamski’s goal just seconds into the game, North Allegheny evened the score on a marker by junior Nathaniel Heil at the 6:40 mark of the first period.

The Tigers took a 2-1 lead 2:05 into the second period when junior Aaron Miller scored the go-ahead goal, assisted by Haden Shimko and Dylan Watkins.

Despite NA’s heavy advantage in shots, Plum stayed within a goal of the Tigers until the final minute of the game when the Mustangs pulled the goalie. Will Parreaguirre and Luke Turkovich put the finishing touches on the win with two empty net goals to finish off the Mustangs, 4-1.

North Allegheny improves to 9-4-2 on the season and sits in third place in the PIHL Class AAA standings with 20 points. Plum slips to 4-9 on the year but still has playoff hopes as the Mustangs are in a three-way tie for eighth place with Central Catholic and Canon-McMillan.
