A late push from the North Allegheny Ice Hockey team wasn’t enough, as Seneca Valley earned a tough 3-2 victory at the Baierl Ice Complex on Monday night.

The two teams traded short-handed markers in the first period. Raider forward Andrew Malichky stole the puck in at the NA blue line and snuck a shot past junior Cam Junker at 10:01 in the frame. About two minutes later, Seneca Valley went on the power play and gave up the puck at neutral ice. Senior defenseman Owen Logan found fellow senior Evan Kerber with a pass into the Tigers offensive end and Kerber delivered the short-handed marker.

The Raiders jumped ahead in the second period, with two goals from Marshall Hewitt.

NA rallied in the early stages of the third period. Following a rebound, sophomore Ed Scherer connected a pass to sophomore Brendan White, who notched a shot in the top right corner of the net, trimming the deficit. The Tigers had a couple of late scoring chances, but Cenzo Ditullio held strong for Seneca Valley making 31 saves.  Junker made 18 saves in the contest.

Kerber leads the team and AAA conference with eight goals to this point, and earned Wright Automotive Player of the Game laurels.

The Tigers and Raiders are now tied at the top of AAA with 12 points apiece.

NA is back in action on the road against Cathedral Prep on Dec. 5.
