Reigning PIHL Champions Open Season With 3-0 Win
The reigning Class AAA Penguins Cup champions opened the 2019-2020 season on Thursday night with a 3-0 victory over the Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils. Junior goalie Josh Bailey stopped all 17 shots he faced to earn the victory and shutout.
It was a hot start for the Tigers as NA scored just 15 seconds into the season, taking an immediate 1-0 lead on a goal by sophomore Kevin Hart, assisted by Will Pearreaguirre. North Allegheny advanced the lead to 2-0 with 1:51 remaining in the first period when freshman Trey Gallo scored, assisted by Collin O’Neill and Luke Washabaugh.
After a scoreless second period, the Tigers tacked on one more goal in third period thanks to a Tyler Sippel goal for a 3-0 lead and victory. The final marker was assisted by Hart and Christopher Hanlon.
Following the season-opening win, North Allegheny will return to the ice on Oct. 17 with a home game against Central Catholic.
