The North Allegheny ice hockey team faced off against rival Seneca Valley at the Baierl Ice Complex on Thursday night. NA mounted a comeback that forced overtime, but the extra period was not enough, as the Tigers fell 5-4.

Seneca Valley opened the scoring early as Ryan Schultz scored on an even-strength goal just about three minutes into the contest. The Raiders added to the lead in the opening minutes of the second period on a goal from Mason Scheetz.

NA tied the game before the intermission with back-to-back late-period markers. Junior Bryce McCormick found the back of the net with less than 10 seconds to play in the second period, assisted by sophomores Brady Dixon and Cole Maier. Five seconds later, right before the horn, junior Chase Hiben scored, assisted by seniors Anthony Lucas and Cedric Otey.

Seneca found two more goals to begin the third period from Luke Birckbichler and Ryan Campbell to retake a 4-2 lead. Tiger sophomore Cian Gallagher brought the game within one in the middle stages of the frame on a power-play goal assisted by Otey and Lucas. Otey tied the game at four on another man advantage with less than five minutes left in regulation, assisted by Lucas and Hiben.

The Raiders ultimately scored the final goal in the first 90 seconds of overtime off a Ryan Schultz power-play goal.

Junior Chris Costa made 26 saves in net for the Tigers.

North Allegheny is back in action next week for another Thursday night game from the Bairel Ice Complex when they play host to Greater Latrobe at 9:10 p.m.
