Tigers Bounce Back For Big Section Win At Seneca Valley, 66-54

In a must-win section game on the road, the North Allegheny boys’ basketball team came away from Seneca Valley with 66-54 triumph on Friday night.

The Tigers jumped out to a 23-13 lead in the first quarter and were power by senior forward Kolin Dinkins, who scored nine of his 12 points in the opening stanza. From the first quarter on, North Allegheny continued to dictate the pace en route to the win.

Senior Robby Jones sparked North Allegheny in the second half with 12 of his team-high 17 points coming over the final two quarters. Jones knocked down a pair of treys.

Additionally, sophomore Joey Dopirak had a strong second half and finished with 14 points. Senior Matt McDonough netted 11 points and three 3 pointers. Seneca Valley was paced by Luke Lawson’s game-high 19 points and five 3-pointers.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 10-6 overall and 3-6 in Section 1-6A. Seneca Valley dips to 6-11 overall and 2-7 in section play. The Tigers will take on Penn Hills on Saturday night at the Pittsburgh Hall of Fame Classic at Montour High School. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
