Tigers claim section title with 41-27 win over Seneca Valley
North Allegheny traveled to Seneca Valley High School for a very important Section 4-3A contest. Both teams were coming in with undefeated section records. The Tigers came away with a 41-27 victory claiming at least a share of the Section 4-3A title along with clinching a spot in the WPIAL 3A Team Tournament.
Seneca Valley started with a 6-0 lead winning by forfeit at 107 pounds but Bryce Prosser won a 7-0 decision, Dalton Stragand won by fall, Evan Schomburg won by forfeit and Myles Hoover and Gus Stedeford claimed back-to-back tech falls to give NA a healthy 25-6 lead. The Raiders got a pin at 145 pounds but Griffen Reid and Gabriel Hernandez both won by tech fall to make the score 35-12. Seneca Valley made a run claiming three bouts in a row to cut the deficit to 35-27, but Bradyn McConneha finished the match with a pin to give North Allegheny a 41-27 win.
North Allegheny improves to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the section. Seneca Valley falls to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in section play. The Tigers return to action on Friday when they travel to Fox Chapel High School to take part in the Allegheny County Invitational. Wrestling will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
