Tigers Claw To 1-1 Tie With Panthers

Posted on:

The North Allegheny ice hockey team played to a 1-1 tie on the road against the Upper St. Clair Panthers on Monday night. The tie keeps NA unbeaten on the young season through three games.

North Allegheny earned a power play opportunity at the 13:26 mark of the first period thanks to a tripping penalty on USC’s Sean Stevenson. The Tigers capitalized on the man advantage with a Nathan Taylor goal with 1:56 remaining in the period to take a 1-0 lead.

The one-goal lead stood into the third period and it appeared the Tigers would expand upon it with another power play early in the stanza. However, Upper St. Clair tied the game with a short-handed marker by Jake Reinheimer with 13:53 left in regulation. The game stayed tied through the remainder of the third period and in overtime for a 1-1 stalemate.

North Allegheny sits at 2-0-1 atop the Class AAA standings. Upper St. Clair is still winless at 0-2-1 following the tie. The Tigers host Butler on Friday night at 6:30 pm in Warrendale.
