The North Allegheny ice hockey squad earned a tough 3-1 victory over Upper St. Clair Monday night at the Baierl Ice Complex.

USC found the game’s first goal when Nico Galardini lit the lamp off a dish from Justin Schuster just about four and a half minutes into the contest. NA stormed back, scoring a short-handed goal about a minute later from senior Gianni Lochiatto assisted by fellow senior Tyler Bianchin. The Tigers took the lead later in the period off an even-strength goal by sophomore Topher Moran, assisted by Lochiatto and Bianchin.

After no scoring in the second frame, North Allegheny padded their lead in the third period. Junior Joey Mitchell scored a short-handed empty netter in the final minutes to secure the win.

Senior goalie Cam Junker made 21 saves in net.

The win improves the Tigers’ record to 6-2 on the season. NA currently sits in third place in the AAA standings with 17 points, trailing only Seneca Valley (19 points) and Mt. Lebanon (26 points).
