North Allegheny played host to Franklin Regional at the Baierl Ice Complex in Warrendale, with the Tigers having three regulation wins and one in overtime on the year. The great start continued
for NA, as they posted a 4-2 victory over the Panthers.

Franklin Regional scored the only goal of the first period, when Brendan Yohe scooped up a turnover and skated in freely on the left wing. His wrist shot from the left circle found the net just 2:09 into the game.

North Allegheny scored the next four goals unanswered. Anthony Lucas tied the game at 4:39 of the second period. His initial shot was deflected and knuckled in on Grant Novotny, who could not control the rebound, and the junior backhanded home the rebound for his 2nd goal of the year.

The Tigers struck on the power play to take their first lead at 2-1. Cole Maier fired a shot from the top of the left circle, and Luke Direnzo poked home the rebound for his 2nd of the season at 12:19.

The Tigers went 1-for-2 on the power play and killed off both penalties against them in the game. North Allegheny scored a pair of insurance goals in a span of 2:06 in the third period to go ahead 4-1. Liam Dimond wristed a shot from the right point through traffic at 4:07 for his first varsity goal. Nick Pasquale and Joey Mitchell picked up assists. Then, at 6:13, Lucas netted his second with an Eddie Scherer assist for a three-goal lead.

Grant Williams scored for the Panthers with just under five minutes remaining to make the final score 4-2.

Sophomore Chris Costa made a season high 31 saves in goal to improve to 5-0 on the season. With a pair of goals on the night, Lucas took home the first Wright Automotive Player of the Game award.

Next up for North Allegheny is its rival, Seneca Valley. Both the defending Penguins and Pennsylvania Cup champion Raiders and the Tigers stand atop 3A in the PIHL with identical records and 14 points. They will battle next Thursday, November 6th, with a scheduled faceoff at 9:10 p.m. That game will be carried on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
