Tigers Roll Ramblers, 6-1

The North Allegheny ice hockey team returned to the win column and cruised to a 6-1 victory over Cathedral Prep on Tuesday night at Erie Bank Sports Park. The Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back in a one-sided contest. NA outshot Cathedral Prep, 43-18, and owned the game from start to finish.

In the first period, North Allegheny built a 3-0 lead on goals by Evan Perrotte, Marc Joyson and Travis Lamark. The Joyson goal came on the power play, as did NA’s first goal of the second period, a marker by Owen Logan for a 4-0 lead. Cathedral Prep briefly interrupted the onslaught with goal at the 6:14 mark of the period by Ethan Cunningham, trimming the score to 4-1, Tigers.

Perrotte answered back with his second goal of the night with just six seconds left in the second period and Luke Walkauskas capped the scoring with the lone goal of the third period bring the final score to 6-1, North Allegheny. Walkauskas added two assists for a three-point night. Joyson dished out three assists in a four-point effort.

Andrew Long got the start in net and stopped 17 pucks to earn the win. Tanner Ball made 37 saves for the Ramblers in a losing effort.

With the win, North Allegheny remains in first place in the Class AAA standings with a 7-2 record, while Cathedral Prep falls to 3-6-1. The Tigers return to action on Monday with a home game against Central Catholic. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
