Tigers roll Rams to stay unbeaten in section play
North Allegheny hosted the Pine-Richland Rams on Wednesday night in a Section 4-3A matchup. The Tigers won 11 of the 13 bouts en route to a 60-11 win over the Rams.
Joseph Synan won by tech fall to get the match started followed by Dalton Stragand winning by pin to help NA jump out to an 11-0 lead. Pine-Richland picked up a pin at 121 pounds before North Allegheny claimed the next three bouts with Evan Schomburg (tech fall), Myles Hoover (pin), and Gus Stedeford (major decision) helping the Tigers expand the lead to 26-6. The Rams would win their final bout of the match at 145 pounds to make the score 26-11. NA took it from there as Griffen Reid (tech fall), Gabriel Hernandez (pin), Brody Barnhart (forfeit), Denis Tsybuk (tech fall), Charles Miller (pin) and Bradyn McConneha (forfeit) claimed the final six bouts to finish off the 60-11 rout.
Stedeford was named the Wright Automotive Wrestler of the Match for his impressive 13-2 major decision win over Max Kohser.
North Allegheny improves to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the section. Pine-Richland falls to 1-9 overall and 0-3 in section play. The Tigers return to action this weekend when they head east to Indiana University of Pennsylvania to take part in the Mid-Winter Mayhem Invitational at the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex. Wrestling is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
