Tigers Singe Blue Devils, 5-2

Posted on:

North Allegheny ran its unbeaten streak to six in a row on Monday night with a 5-2 victory over the Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils at the BladeRunners complex in Warrendale.

It looked like the game might be a runaway at the outset as the Tigers built a 3-0 lead in the first period.  Michael Kramer sandwiched a pair of goals around a marker by Tyler Wilson in the period to jump start the night for North Allegheny.

However, Mt. Lebanon slowly inched its way back into the game.  Kenneth Schrader gave the Blue Devils some life with a goal at the 5:03 mark of the second period, and Reed Farber cut the score to 3-2 with a goal with 1:27 gone in the third period.

North Allegheny regained momentum on Joseph Zappia’s goal at the 6:21 mark of the third and Dawson Richard put the game away with a tally with 2:02 left to play.

Joseph Hubert got the start in net for the Tigers and stopped 21 of 23 shots.  Mt. Lebanon’s Joel Kirchner posted 30 saves on 35 shots against.

The Tigers jump to 13-2-3 on the season and currently reside in first place in the Class AAA standings, two points ahead of Peters Township. Mt. Lebanon falls to 8-8-1 on the year. North Allegheny has the rest of the week off before visiting Pittsburgh Central Catholic next Tuesday, February 3 at 7:00 pm.
