Tigers Take 10th Place At Bethlehem Holiday Classic

The North Allegheny boys’ wrestling team took part in the final tournament of the calendar year with a 10th-place finish at the Bethlehem Holiday Wrestling Classic on Thursday and Friday. The Tigers totaled 98 team points with five medalists. Council Rock South was the tournament champion with 188.5 team points.

Individually, North Allegheny’s top finisher senior Aidan Buggey with a third-place effort at 215 pounds. Buggey defeated Bethlehem Liberty’s Dante Morrison by a 7-1 decision to win bronze.

At 107 pounds, freshman Evan Schomburg garnered a fifth place medal with a win by forfeit over Carter Chunko of Saucon Valley. Sophomore Gus Stedeford (121) and junior Mason Hartung (189) reached the fifth-place bout in their respective weight classes and claimed sixth-place medals. At 139 pounds, sophomore Griffen Reid reached the seventh-place consolation bout and took home an eight-place finish.

North Allegheny will begin 2024 on Friday, Jan. 5 with a tri-meet against Pine-Richland and McDowell. The matchup with the Rams will be the section opener for the Tigers. The tri-meet will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
