Tigers Top Vikings In Overtime

The North Allegheny ice hockey team earned a tough 2-1 overtime victory over Central Catholic Thursday night from the Baierl Ice Complex.

The Tigers got on the board early when senior Gianni Lochiatto scored an even-strength goal 2:36 into the contest. Junior Josh Milliron and senior Tommy Vidra earned assists on the marker.  The Vikings responded about three and a half minutes later on a Judah Brophy goal assisted by Noah Hritz.

The scoring dried up between the two teams in the second and third periods. Central Catholic had five chances on the powerplay but were unable to cash in. NA had two man-up opportunities.

The Tigers finished the contest just 13 seconds into the overtime frame thanks to a goal by junior Joey Mitchell, assisted by senior Marc Joyson.

Senior Cam Junker earned the win in net for North Allegheny, stopping 22 shots.

With the win, the Tigers improve to 2-2 on the young season. NA has a break before another home game from the Baierl Ice Complex against Bethel Park on November 4th.
