VARSITY MATCH SUMMARIES TIGER CRUSH SHALER, 174-196 Shooting their lowest score of the year, the Tigers easily defeated Shaler, 174-196, at Diamond Run on Thursday afternoon. Senior J.P. McKim shot a 2-under 33 to pace the Tigers. Senior Michael Turner and sophomore Donny Lewis followed with one-under 34s with sophomore Jim Davis matching par with a 35. Junior Grant Martens finished with a 38. Teddy Chieffe had a 38 to lead Shaler. The 174 was a team record from the blue tees. With the win, the Tigers improved their section record to 5-2, the overall mark to 6-4. NA will travel to North Hills on Monday afternoon for a 3:00 pm section match. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS DOWN BUTLER, 192-201, IN REPLAY FROM LAST WEEK Because of a rules issue, the Tigers had to replay the match with Butler from last week. Led by senior Michael Turner, who shot a one over 36, the Tigers downed the Tornado, 192-201, at Diamond Run on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Donny Lewis was one stroke behind at 37 followed by junior Grant Martens who posted a 38. Grant Nagle led Butler with a 38. The win improved the NA record to 4-2, the overall mark to 5-4. The Tigers will host Shaler this afternoon in a section match at Diamond Run at 3:30 pm. The postponed match with North Hills has been rescheduled for Monday at Highland CC with tee off time set for 3:00 pm MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS EDGE SENECA VALLEY, 197-199 The Tigers improved their section record to 3-2 with a 197-199 victory over Seneca Valley at the Cranberry Highlands course on Tuesday afternoon. Junior Grant Martens led the Tigers with a two-over 37 with senior Michael Turner close behind with a 38. Kirk Pappas recorded a 37 to pace the Raiders. With the win, the Tigers evened their overall season record at 4-4. NA will host Butler this afternoon in a section match at Diamond Run GC. Tee off time is scheduled for 3:30 pm. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * PINE-RICHLAND TOPS TIGERS, 196-205 The Pine-Richland Rams downed the Tigers, 196-205, in a section match at the Orchard Course at Treesdale on Thursday afternoon. Senior Michael Turner shot an even par 36 and sophomore Donny Lewis added a 39 but it was not enough. Ryan Bogosta led the Rams with a one over 37. The loss dropped the NA section record to 2-2 and the season mark to 3-4. The Tigers will be in action again next Tuesday when they travel to Seneca Valley to meet the Raiders in a section match. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS DROP PAIR TO THE "ACADEMIES" Shady Side Academy edged the Tigers by a single stroke, 200-201, while Sewickley Academy posted a 179-201 victory over NA in a tri-match at Diamond Run on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Donny Lewis led NA with a one-over 36 with junior Grant Martens just one stroke back at 37. Kendall Weir of Sewickley Academy was the match medalist with a two-under 33. Beau Bergman recorded a 38 to pace Shady Side. The two non-section losses dropped the overall record to 3-3 on the season. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * MARTENS LEADS TIGERS OVER NEW CASTLE, 194-216 Junior Grant Martens shot a three-under 32 to pace NA to an easy 194-216 victory over New Castle at Diamond Run on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Michael Turner posted a 37 as the Tigers won their third straight match. Chris Nugent recorded a 37 to lead the 'Canes. The win improved the NA section record to 2-1, the overall mark to 3-1 on the season. REGIONAL, The Tigers traveled to Franklin Regional on Friday afternoon and came home with a 196-209 non-section victory over the Panthers. Junior Grant Martens led the Tigers with a 37 at the Meadowink course. Senior J.P. McKim was second with a 38 while senior Michael Turner and sophomore Donny Lewis added 40s for the winning Tigers. Don Biondi posted a 39 to pace the Panthers. The victory improved the overall NA record to 2-1 on the season. The Tigers will return to section play on Tuesday when they host New Castle. Senior Jon Keller added a 37, sophomore Donny Lewis a 38, and junior Tom Schweers a 39 as NA evened their section record at 1-1. Clayton Rask shot an even par 35 to lead the Flames. Junior Grant Martens shot a 71 to earn medalist honors and lead the Tigers to a third place finish in the Peters Township Invitational on Monday morning as the 2006 season opened. Sophomore Donny Lewis added a 79 for the Tigers. Host Peters Township won the event with Sewickley Academy second.
