VARSITY MATCH SUMMARIES LARIMORE TAKES THIRD PLACE IN WPIAL SINGLES Sophomore Jen Larimore defeated Joelle Kissell of Latrobe, 6-4, 6-3, to capture third place in the WPIAL Singles Championships at Hempfield High School on Tuesday afternoon. Larimore rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the first game to take the victory. With the win, the NA sophomore would have qualified for the PIAA Singles Tournament in previous years. This year, due to the addition of the Philadelphia area teams, only the top two will go. Larimore won two matches on Monday afternoon before dropping a three-set decision in the semifinals. In the first round, Larimore defeated Allie Seranko of Latrobe, 10-7. In the quarterfinals, Larimore eliminated Julie Stroyne of Peters Township, 10-5. In the semifinal loss to top seed Lauren Greco of Shady Side Academy, Larimore won the first set, 6-4, before dropping the second, 6-3, and the third, 6-4. Freshman Stephanie Smyers was defeated by Sarah Dieffenbach of Fox Chapel, 11-9, in the first round. The Lady Tiger team will host rival North Hills this afternoon at the Senior High courts in a 3:30 pm section match. WPIAL SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIPS
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * DOUBLES TEAMS GIVE LADY TIGERS 3-2 WIN OVER PINE-RICHLAND Victories by both doubles teams, coupled with a straight set win by freshman Amanda Maiello, were enough for the Lady Tigers to defeat Pine-Richland, 3-2, at Pine-Richland on Friday afternoon. At #1 doubles, the team of senior Liz Lampe and sophomore Cody McCoy won in two sets of the P-R team of Strollo and Kunkle, 6-1, 6-2. At the number two doubles, junior Yilu Zhang and senior Molly Moynihan teamed up for a 6-3, 6-3 victory. The victory kept NA undefeated in section play as their record improved to 6-0 in section, 7-1 overall. On Monday afternoon, sophomore Jen Larimore and freshman Stephanie Smyers will compete for the WPIAL Singles Championship at Hempfield High School. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS STAY UNBEATEN IN SECTION PLAY WITH 4-0 WIN OVER BUTLER Even the rain could not stop the Lady Tigers as they defeated the Butler Golden Tornado, 4-0, at Butler on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Jen Larimer and freshman Stephanie Smyers both won their singles matches in straight sets, but freshman Amanda Maiello had her match stopped by rain while leading in the third set. In doubles play, the team of senior Liz Lampe and junior Stephanie Keiser needed three sets but pulled out a 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 victory over the Butler #1 team. At #2 doubles, senior Molly Moynihan and junior Yilu Zhang won in straight sets. The win improved the NA section record to 5-0, the overall mark to 6-1. The Lady Tigers will visit Pine-Richland tomorrow afternoon for a 3:30 pm section match. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * LARIMORE WINS SECTION SINGLES TITLE Sophomore Jen Larimore defeated Olivia Heim of Pine-Richland, 6-4 and 6-2, to win the Section 2 singles championship at Lakeview on Tuesday afternoon. Freshman Stephanie Smyers was victorious over Sarah Longo of Hampton, 6-0 and 6-3, to win the third place final. Larimore won three matches on Monday afternoon at the Senior High courts to advance to the final. The NA sophomore downed Jenna Kanterman of Knoch, 10-0, in the first round before eliminating Emily Winkler of North Hills, 10-1, in the quarterfinals. A two-set victory over Sara Long of Hampton, 6-0, 6-0, sent Larimore to the final. Smyers was victorious over Nicole Lucey of Seneca Valley, 10-2, in the first round before defeating Chelsea Gibson of Knoch, 10-8, in the quarters. Heim defeated Smyers, 7-5, 6-1, in the semifinals. Bothe Larimore and Smyers will represent NA at the WPIAL singles championships next week. The Lady Tiger team will be back in action this afternoon when they travel to Butler for a section match. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS REMAIN UNBEATEN IN SECTION WITH 5-0 VICTORY OVER MARS The Lady Tigers swept the Mars Planets, 5-0, at the Senior High courts on Thursday afternoon to win their fourth straight section match without a loss. NA did not lose a set in earning the victory. In singles play, sophomore Jen Larimore defeated Katrina Erdahl, 6-0 and 6-1, to set the stage. Freshmen Stephanie Smyers and Amanda Maiello also won in straight sets at #2 and #3 singles as NA dominated play. In doubles play, the #1 NA team of junior Stephanie Keiser and senior Molly Moynihan downed Brooke Barnes and Staci Walker in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-3. The #2 team of senior Jen Donaldson and sophomore Cody McCoy also was victorious in straight sets. With the win, the NA section record now stands at 4-0, the overall mark at 5-1. The section singles tournament will be held at the Senior High courts on Monday and Tuesday. The Lady Tigers will be back in action again on Wednesday when they travel to Butler for a 3:30 pm section match. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * SENECA VALLEY NO MATCH FOR LADY
TIGERS The Lady Tigers won all three singles matches without losing a game to lead NA to a 5-0 section victory over Seneca Valley at the Senior High courts on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Jen Larimore, along with freshmen Stephanie Smyers and Amanda Maiello, led NA with singles victories. In doubles play, the #1 team of senior Molly Moynihan and junior Yilu Zhang earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory. At #2, the senior team of Liz Lampe and Annie Urish also won in straight sets over McMillen and Torso of the Raiders. Head coach Michelle Weniger said, "All three singles lines played clean solid matches not giving up one game." The win kept NA unbeaten in section play with a 3-0 record. Overall, the Lady Tigers improved to 4-1. NA will host Mars tomorrow afternoon at the Senior High courts in a section match. The starting time is set for 3:30 pm. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS WIN PAIR The Lady Tigers won matches on both Thursday and Friday to improve their record to 3-1 on the season. On Thursday, NA traveled to Knoch and defeated the Knights, 4-1, in a section match. Leading the way were sophomore Cody McCoy and junior Stephanie Keiser who won at #2 and #3 singles respectively. McCoy downed Jenna Kanterman, 6-0, 6-1, while Kaiser put away Sara Cypher, 6-0, 6-0. The doubles teams were victorious in straight sets without losing a game. Junior Liz Lampe and sophomore Jen Larimore defeated Kristen Grogen and Lauren Vanrhein at #1 doubles. At #2, senior Molly Moynihan and junior Yilu Zhang shut out Laura Winter and Bethany Soloski. The victory improved the NA section record to 2-0. On Friday, the Lady Tigers shut out Franklin Regional, 5-0, in a non-section match at the Senior High courts. Freshman Stephanie Smyers, freshman Amanda Maiello, and junior Stephanie Keiser were victorious in singles play. According to NA Head Coach Michelle Weniger, "Stephanie Smyers and Amanda Maiello had tough matches but never gave up. They played smart tennis!" In doubles, the team of Lampe and Larimore shut out their opponents in straight sets. At #2 doubles, Moynihan and Zhang won by scores of 6-1 and 6-2. The Lady Tigers will be back in action again on Tuesday when they host Seneca Valley in a section match at the Senior High courts. Match time is scheduled for 3:30 pm. MATCH SUMMARIES

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * SHADY SIDE EDGES LADY TIGERS, 3-2 Shady Side Academy won the top two singles matches on their way to a 3-2 victory over the Lady Tigers at Shady Side on Wednesday afternoon. Junior Stephanie Keiser won in straight sets at #3 singles while the doubles team of senior Molly Moynihan and junior Yilu Zhang defeated the team of Cozens and Rith, 6-2, 6-2, for the NA victories. The non-section loss dropped the NA over record to 1-1 on the season. The Lady Tigers resume section play this afternoon when they travel to Knoch to meet the Knights in a 3:00 pm match. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS DEFEAT HAMPTON, Sophomore Cody McCoy's comeback victory at #2 singles sparked the Lady Tigers to a 4-1 victory over Hampton in the season and section opener at the Senior High courts on Tuesday afternoon. McCoy came back to win the final two sets after dropping a tiebreaker. Junior Stephanie Keiser posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Jen Arnold at #3 singles. At #1 singles, freshman Stephanie Smyers lost in straight sets but Head Coach Michelle Weniger said, "(She) fought very hard at line singles." In doubles action, both NA teams were victorious. Senior Liz Lampe and freshman Amanda Maiello teamed up for a 6-4, 6-4 win over Emma Crist and Jenny Lucas at #1 doubles. At #2, senior Molly Moynihan and junior Yilu Zhang won in straight sets. Coach Weniger was pleased with the results as she commented, "All four lines played hard and won their 1st section match." The Lady Tigers are on the road this afternoon when they travel to Shady Side Academy for a 4:00 pm non-section match. MATCH SUMMARY
